SPS PREADATORS Red bugs, AEFW's ,Monti nudis and Sea spiders. Pictures Inside

No, I had bite marks on the topside of my miyagi tort. I did not even notice it until I pulled the coral and started dipping.

i guess the next phase is the dip all my corals once a week? or do i dip only the ones that i think have them?

i have a question , do AEFW lay eggs on liverock? Or when they do lay eggs, does the area around the eggs bleach making it easier for me to see the eggs?

Most say that they will only lay eggs on dead tissue that way when they hatch they will have a short way to go for a food source. I have seen more than a couple picture though where the eggs are laid both at the base and extended onto the rocks.

That is one ugly Mo$@#!!

This is a really helpful thread, this is the first time ever seeing a picture of sea spider. How do you rid of them? Are they as bad as AEFW? Man I hate AEFW.

I am dumbfounded. How do these get introduced into our tanks?

Do they travel in NSW?
Do they just become attached to rocks and SPS?

Will coral revive kill it?

You know I managed to get rid of that spider image from my head and then you go and repost it again. Thanks Johnny. :lmao: By the way they crawl out of the tank at night and eat people from the inside out. Happy Halloween... I mean Merry Christmas everybody!:D

Those just look like harmless brown flatworms. Not the AEFW type, unless those came directly from a peice of sps? Those are a pain to get rid of, but generally harmless. They are just unslightly in large numbers. Flat Worm Exit works very well on them, but they usually end up coming back even after a treatment. I personally found that you could use very high doses of Flat Worm Exit as long as you did a water change shortly after the worms start dying.

altezza,
I had them in the past in my tank, I have a good suggestion for you. Before you treat the tank, try to use a diatom filter, and vaccum as many as you can off of your rocks. Repeat it a few times. Then when you do your treatment, there is less to actual die and contaminate your water. Be prepared with a bunch of water for a good sized water change, and have new carbon ready to go. For on going prevention. I keep a mandarin goby in my tank.

I want to know if the AEFW will attack millepora acros? I am going to test mine and a few others tonite? After revewing some info here and on melev's page I too have been wondering if I was having an ALK issue with some corals but now I am preparing for the worst.

ok thats great at least it is not harmful to my tank...i will look into that treatment asap..thank you for your advices guys.

Just thought I would quote myself with a sigh of relief I found no AEFW after a lugol dip and exsessive basting of several Acros. Very happy indeed, now to figure out what the hell is causing my problem. Thanks for scaringthe S**t out of me with this thread and others like it, but I am glad I did test for AEFW and check for other pests. Best of luck to all the others out there that have these pests.

Found a bunches of these crawling on the some new frags I purchased. They are around 1mm in lenght. Can someone ID them for me please:
