Sps Question If you knew

I probably would have still gotten into it knowing then what I know now. But I would have done things differently.

Patience is the key, as others have said. When I first started out I was in such a rush to have a great tank. It wasn't until I realized that the main ingredient in a good reef is time, and there's no way around it, that I started to really enjoy the hobby.

BTW rogerwilco, fingers crossed that I never find a worm of that size in my tank. If I do, there's no way in hell the wife will let the tank stay. She'd probably pick the tank up by herself and toss it out on to the driveway...

I'm lucky I can blame my wife and kids for starting me on this addiction. Many years ago my kids were each given a beta fish as a birthday party gift that they each really enjoyed. I was the one helping them take care of the fish untill my wife did a water change with bottled mineral water and they were both dead by the evening. Everyone felt bad and that opened the door for me and my first saltwater setup.

The kids are a lot older now and have a lot of other interests but our tank is certainly a focal point for a lot of family discussions. The progession from fish only to softies to lps to sps is all part of the challenge. Love every expensive minute.
