Does anyone have an SPS tank that does not have a Calcium Reactor?

How are you managing this?

Can you please post some pictures?

Thera are a lot of tank with out a CaRx.

In my starts I dose via 2 part (B-ionic), It consist in a daily dose of Ca and Alk, that why is call it 2 part, of couse there are also other parameter than you have to look as is the Magnesium.

There are others methos as limewater (kalkwassier)too but I have only use those 2 (2 aprt and CaRx)

Anyway you is ok as long it keep your parameter stable & suit your needs. for example in small mixed aquariums 2 part works great, but is bigger reef with SPS dominat the better choise is a CaRx. IMO

Drip kalk and do a 10% water change every week. You should be good to go if you have a medium sized tank or less.

+1.

This has worked so far for me (50 gallons.)

I use Randy's Two Part Solution. .

You can get the ingredients and components HERE .

I ran both a CA reactor and Kalk Stirrer in the past and honestly have had better results will a simple DIY two part solution.

With two part solution my Ph is more stable and less prone to accidents. Like many others out there, no matter how diligent or careful I have been an accident has occurred. I have overdosed kalk once before and have had my Ca reactor lock up turning my media into mush.

With dosing two part manually it is really hard for something to go wrong. The worst case scenario would be that you forget to dose one of the days.

You can check out my thread HERE for pics and info on my system. Or, simply click on my red house to view my website.

from the time that I created this post 2 part dosing have been more main stream.

My question now for anyone that has mature SPS tank, how much of each solution do you dose on a daily basis and do you dose it all at once or throughout the day?

Depends on how many corals you have in your tank. I only add 18 mL of Cal and 27 mL of Kh a day. While I know others with more mature tanks that dose twice as much twice a day to keep Ca and kh as level as possible.

im adding about 24mL of Ca and 40 ml of KH a day... i have mind on a dosing pump that spreads the ca/kh equally throughout the day to keep the parameters consistent... a dosing pump would be a great investment..

With Randy's 2 part i dose 26/26... my alk is stable at 2.96meq/L and my Cal at 420ppm. You will see as corals start to grow demand will increase. In my case it increases around 2ml every 3rd week or so.

Balling method

the amount of solution needed depends on how concentrated you mix it as well.

2 part = salt + RO/DI water so ure only paying extra for water.

i 2 part as well. Using kalk ato, BRS ive been able to keep things stable
My parts are being auto dosed my my trio aqua medic
Things are good
