SPS Xmas Tree Decoration Time.

This year's Xmas tree is more up market. Here it is at night a couple of weeks ago soon after i started it off. The baby snail mountain climbing team looked to be making a strong push for the summit of mount SSC but in a tragic turn of events they were all swept from the mountain soon after this shot was taken by a turkey baster blizzard which blew in from nowhere..........
Here it is today when i was doing some repairs to a branch i knocked off and adding another ornament. I ended up knocking off another branch while repairing the first one :rolleye1: so i filled my empty coke can with tank water to pour over the tree every 5 mins while it was out of the water for about 15-20 mins. I did rinse it under the tap first btw, you can see the wet patch of towel under the tree.
Sooooooooooo, i don't suppose any other SPS reefers are going to join in this year.............

Thanks guys, the old tree was destroyed Dan and the frags stuck back on the rocks or left to blow around the tank bottom lol. The tree is still going Rory, needs some more color i think so might stick some more stuff on it tomorrow on my day off.

It's getting an orange chalice skirt on the front and a green with pink eye chalice skirt on the back tomorrow - don't worry about the yanks lamo trees Rory, even their own President hangs out in Aus rather than the US.......... :smokin:

Top job mate, but that dang coralline is ugly:lol:. Any where else its good but not on the tree:facepalm:. I think a chalice skirt would look great. I'm not worried mate, I know you've got this under control and after all, you invented the SPS Xmas tree. Those yanks don't know what their in for

Thanks Rory, yep when it comes to weird reef stuff i have things covered.....
Dan i just thought about your snowman idea and i think we might give that a whirl mate :beer: I have no idea how you convince me to do these stupid things.......:hmm4:
Can't think of anything better than seeing you join in next year Sahin, hopefully we can make it a tradition. I know Bello and Rory are as silly as us so they'll be in :celeb2:
Remember when you said i should photograph all the SPS outside in the sun like i did with those other bits........ i decided it would be easier to make the entire sump reef scape on an acrylic plate so i can take the entire reef outside every couple of months for a photo shoot. I'll do it with a water change and do top downs under water in a plastic tub out in the sun - be just like walking over a reef at low tide and taking snaps. :smokin:
And before you ask it will be living in a 2x2 section in the bigger sump so we can track it for ages.
The tree is ceramic with white gloss glaze, hollow but heavy enough to sit still when you fill it with water and place it on the bottom. Got it at one of those $2- shops where they have heaps of cheap stuff. I'm going to check a couple out tomorrow in search of Acro the Snowman. :uhoh3:
