Sputniks 63G Rimless Reef

Looks great.

What return pump are you using? That's a TON of backpressure you have there
Yes, there quite a bit of back pressure and MagDrive 12 is the pump that doing all the work w/o any struggle, i actually had to put some ball valves to be able to tone it down a bit, because the amount of water movement created by two returns might be too much when i get corals in.

you might have trouble in changing the uv bulb once the tank is sitting against the wall and probably can't use the uv wiper at this position. just my 2 cent
And you are absolutely right, good observation ;) that's why i put a union there, so i can shut down a system when changing a water and the fact that the other fitting is fitted with silicon tube, will give me an opportunity to pull it out half way and clean the sleeve. It was really the best spot for the UV unit.

Some reef saver rock arrived here today from bulk reef, five pieces, 30lb, not much to play around with, but after an hour of messing around this is what I came up with... [emoji51]

I think either 'scape would be beautiful grown in, if I had to choose a favorite I would lean towards the second one. My only issue with the second one is I don't think it has enough height, but you could achieve the height from stags, so it depends on the direction you want to go.

A little update

That aquascape up there, was unacceptable to say the least, so I had to pull out my hammer and a chisel, some epoxy putty and beer as well and I think it's a little better, at least not as boring...

Looking nice. How do you rate the skimmer?

Thank you sir :) The skimmer is OK, can't really complain, I had it in my first system and planning on using in this one, for now. I can't really say if it's a good skimmer or bad, simply because I never owned any other brands, so I have nothing to compare it with... I'm pretty sure that majority of those new cone skimmers are much more efficient/effective, but this one definitely suits my sump as far as fitment and it does a good job of producing gunk.... We'll see what happens, maybe i'm gonna do what I originally planned, with a separate drain/skimmer sump connected to my current one via uniseals... That way I might get one of those German cone skimmers.

Finally after a week I managed to get Ammonia higher than .50ppm... Took me four shrimps...

Well, it looks like it's gonna be a long cycle [emoji51]
