Squamie Drops Foot, New Pics, New Aquascaping

So, during todays weekly waterchange I noticed that my main central rock had been shifting precariously over my two sand dwelling clams. Therefore I decided to move it and make the tank look a bit deeper. I also have a bit of a hair algae thing goin' on because of the newish halides so I blew all the detritus and crap off the rocks with a small powerhead.

Well...Bucky the Squamosa did not appreciate this at all.... And promptly let go of this into the water colomn. That is his foot, for those who dont know, and he should be able to successfully regrow it.

He is happily opened now, so it looks like all is well, if you have any advice as far as things to look for to make sure he is recovering, let me know.

And here is the mini redo shot.

When gently adjusting the rocks around Mildred the Crocea, i found her to be latched on like no other, which is fine and worked nicely with the new rockscaping on that side.

And a shot of the brothers clam....

And one more from the side of the tank...

Thanks for looking, all comments appreciated!

holy cow henry's growing good :eek2:

i just looked back at the pics you posted in late January and compared to now he has really shot up. i was looking at my gigas today and he probably has 1/8" - 1/4" new growth on the edge of his shell in the two weeks i've had him.

tank looks good, i like the new aquascaping :)

he may not need to re-grow his foot, as squamies get bigger they can rely on their weight to hold them down. their byssal opening can actually grow closed.

it does look a little to white, it should be more flesh ( pink ) colored. i suppose bucky could have dropped it a while ago and your just finding it know?

the real question is how does bucky look? he looks fine in the pics you posted, any changes??

i usually make up stupid easy names, he shall be known as "Gigas Kahn" :)

nudilove, do you want another gigantic clam? Well in Deerfield IL(no idea where you live) They got one as big as your biggest one.

a4twenty... Bucky looks great, he opens up his inhalent siphon a bit wider than I think he should at night, but looks great, apparently no ill effects *shrug*.

OMG! How did I not think of that! I'm super sarcastic and I love history...I'm dying of shame right now that I didnt think of an awesome name like that... *bows down*

Deerfield is near Chicago? Is it a giga or a squame? What color? I want one of those smaller blue spot squames so bad I can taste it. LOL I have a friend who might get it and ship it to me if in Chi town.

the inhalent siphon could be a sign of stress or perhaps a problem with your params. ( probably alk )
