Been thinking about it ... And I was considering a 3000INT . But maybe a should get the 5000INT . I want your opinions :)

I will have a 180 with 40 sump....with heavy bioload . Should I get the 3000 or 5000 ? And does it really make a difference if it's the cone ?

Personally I would go with the 3000. A 5000 would handle a much larger system but IME its border line.

If you do carbon dosing and feed a whole lot the 5000 might be the way to go.

Cone if you can afford it. If its a burden it won't be a big deal.

From other threads that Ive seen with your tank size the 3000 will be perfect. When you get up around 300 gallons I would go with the 5000. Im pretty sure that mojo (skimmer guru) compared the two and didnt think the cone performed any better.

Okay . Thanks a lot !! I Thought the 3000 will be good to . I guess if nitrates or nitrates are out of the norm , I'll know to switch !

I have a SRO 3000 int on my 120 gallon with 60 gallon sump, heavy bio load it works well but I am shopping at the moment I would like a nicer main skimmer and use the SRO as a backup. bonuses I can see with it is a replacement pump or part would be a lot faster to get in case of an emergency. I don't like that its next to impossible to clean the base chamber. Also I don't like that the screws on the pump are starting to rust after about 4 months of use.

i had a 180 with med bio load and tons of sps. never a problem and water always was clean enough to keep sps happy and growing
