St. Jude tanks.

As many of you have already seen in another thread, we have signed our club up to setup/maintain two 210 gallon tanks inside St. Jude. The tanks are already there, but are in terrible condition. Our plan is to convert these into mixed reef tanks. We will be planning a meeting or two inside St. Jude to start clean up and renovations. We are asking for volunteers to come out and help with this project. Barrett will be point man on this endeavor. Anyone interested in helping will need to contact him and get some paperwork filled out in order to be a part of this. St. Jude needs to have information on each volunteer, and you may possibly have to go through a volunteer orientation at the hospital. I think this will be a worthwhile project for the club. Further details will be discussed at the April meeting, but I want everyone to get excited about this now.

The plan is to clean up one of the existing tanks to make it more enjoyable to look at while we completely tear down, and rejuvenate the other. Once the one tank is finished, we will do the same to the other tank. That way there will not be a time when both tanks are in disrepair. We have a small budget from St. Jude and will be purchasing new equipment including lighting, filtration, etc. and livestock. The theme for one tank is somewhat 'Finding Nemo' to include all your favorite characters. The other tank is still available for suggestions...FOWLR, full reef, seagrass tank, whatever. If you have an idea, please let us know. We will consider all suggestions.

Thanks for reading this, and I hope to see lots of volunteers.

That is going to be a very rewarding endeavor, we at NTRC have discussed and hope to take on a similar project for a nursing home.
But need to work on growing club membership to a level that club could maintain this type of project long term. Good luck with your project, your on the right track................

Thanks. I am glad to have a few on board. I am sure that others will be excited when they hear about it.

John, I think that is a great idea, too. Bringing happiness to others, and especially kids and elderly is always rewarding...we just got lucky to have such a great organization to work with.
Good luck with your project, and with growing your club membership. If there are reefers in the area they will surely find out about the club, and membership will grow.

Count me in, It will be great for our club to do something like this, looking forward to working with other members.

sounds great, im def. in! i save all the scrap copper that comes in and out of my work and i have a man that works at st. jude pick it up. all the proceeds go as a "general donation" back on topic, count me in on anyhting that needs to be done. i have nothing but time!<~~steve

Roy - good to see that you are still around.

I count 12 people including Barrett, myself, and Scott. Now...if all of you (or at least some of you) show up we should be able to accomplish this task with no problems. I understand that everyone won't be able to volunteer as much as others...so if you can't make it a time or two don't sweat it.

Hey guys, this is Kelly here. This is so neat. You can count Walker and I in for sure. We would really like to be a part of it!!
