can anybody identify this one?
grows 100% like my superman
very slow growth (relatively speaking), doesn't plate at all

lost white tentacles under weaker light (they all went purple) back under stronger light, got them back. loss or regain never took more than a week.

That is a very cool Monti first of all. You don't see them with the consistant multicolored polyps very often. I never heard of Starrynight Monti. If your are looking for a show name call it what ever it will hold just as legit as starrynight.

If you want a species ID I am leaning toward Montipora undata http://coral.aims.gov.au/speciesPages/species_metadata/0278/view#
The really cool polyps are extended quiet a bit so we can't really see the texture of the skeleton. Do you have a pic of the polyps retracked?

Thanks for the help, i was leaning towards danae, but is there no scientific name for this precise colour combo? are pokerstar and superman both simply danae?

i just invented starrynight to get peole to click and help me out, i have no idea what else to call it, it doesn't need a name at ll in my opinion, just wondering what the species was

Well the color of the coral might give you an idea of the species. But you can't ID the species based on the color.

Pokerstar isn't denae, it's too smooth. And i think there is a version of superman that has been closely IDed to danae, but the more common Superman is not as rigid as danae.

I've got a lot of reading to to do

anybody have a good book to recommend on montis? or sps generally?

not on keeping, but on taxonomy/identification

Thanks
Derek
