Not trying to get into an argument, but rarely do people buy a sump skimmer rated for 100 gallons.
Also, replace one floor from the collection cup overflowing, and good luck convincing the wife to support your hobby.
But either way, it is the reefers choice. Since I am sumpless, I of course use a HOB skimmer, as well as a HOB phosban reactor. But the risk is always there. I have to find a trusted tank sitter whenever we go out, and every day that I go to work I worry if the skimmer return clogged somehow, or a line started to leak. Considering it's sitting on $15k of hardwood flooring, risk is every bit as important as efficiency. And in sump skimmers reduce risk.
