Ok, I got back from the fish store and bought some things.

-3 asst. Mushroom
-Gorgonian
-Tank Raised Percula Clown
-3 Astrea Snails, and 3 Blue Legged Hermits

I am really hoping that the clown will host the plate. I know it's a small chance, but I think it would be awesome since I have never had a hosting clown.

I also bought 2 pieces of LR for my 2.5g Dwarf seahorse tank that I started about 3 days ago. I plan on putting the Gorg. in the 2.5 after it has finished cycling.

And with the 2.5g. I dont have a filter yet, but I ordered an Azoo Palm Filter for it, and I dont plan on having the PH in there either. It is just to keep the water moving.

thank you so much for the link guys, exactly what i was looking for!

- my clown used to host in my long tentacle plate. the plate didn't seem to mind, but the clown soon moved onto the mushrooms. I RARELY fed my plate directly, and it seemed to do well. It used to just catch floating food. After awhile, the tentacles got so big and fat that it started to look more like an anenome, than a plate...which is why my clown most likely hosted in it.

I have no problems with the water being hot. it is 83 day and night, with no problems whatsoever.

kigs: That is exactly the answer I have been looking for! EXACTLY!!! You answered all of my main questions! Thanks so much!

I sure will! But I have some bad news... it turns out that the rubberbands were too tight on the mushrooms, and 2 of them got ripped in half and died. So the only one left is the big purple one with green dots. =( Oh well... I now know better at least.

you need to take every living thing back to the store
let your LR sit for ATLEAST a month
it doesnt matter if it is aquacultured LR or not live sand or if it is water from your 55
it STILL needs to cycle for ATLEAST a month
listen to the people with experience

benificial batera grow in the sand and on and in the LR
they need ATLEAST a month to START to colonize in the sand bed and filter

i cannot stress to you enough of how important it is to do these things

just take everything back and have your LFS hold them for you
that way if anything does die
they will replace it
win win situation

you have already spent a lot of money you don't want all that to go down the drain

best reguards
Steven.

that seems a little extreme, no? I knew what I was doing and I was able to start up my reef after about 2 weeks of cycling, no loss. As long as he doesn't overstock until the ecosystem inside picks up, I think he will be fine. just my 2 cent.

sorry to hear that about your shrooms. At least you got the nicest looking one to survive. =\ I thought of doing the same thing when my shrooms used to split and float around, but I found out that it works alot better if you just contain them in a small plastic bottle (bottom cutout) with some LR rubble near them. They usually attatch very quickly afterwards.

quick Q- how's the topoff with that MH on your tank btw?

Yeah, the next time I get any mushrooms, I will definatly use a plastic container. Thanks for that advice. Aout the topoff. I can't really tell you how much it is, but I know it is ALOT. Probably apund a gallon every few days. It has insane evaporation, but I always have a jug of water up there so it's all good! Oh, and I keep seing the clown staying near the plate coral at night, but it seems like he's a little afraid to go in there. But he is always right next to it. FINGERS CROSSED!!!

My Maroon clown killed two long tentacle Fungia plates. I thought it was cute at first too.

The clown rubs itself against the Fungia and cuts the plate on it's sharp skeleton. I really like the plates, but if my clown is going to kill them every time then no Fungia for me lol.

He has since made a home in my Hammer, and nothing has happened other then me having a happy clownfish and having a hammer that is very well fed lol

Yea I think Craig is right about the plate. My clown never hosted in the plate long enough to damage it because it soon moved onto my RBTA. But someone did mention that it will damage the plate's mouth in long term.

Kigs how big was your Clown/rbta? I was thinking about getting a small BTA but I am afraid if the BTA is too small the clown will ignore it, although the hammer he is in is a very small frag.

Well, the clown sofar hasn't gone into the Plate, but if I see something that I dont fell is good for the Plate, then I will move the Clown to my 55g I guess.

i wouldnt think so

i believe keeping eveything alive and well and to take precautions is the best you can do
but you might be right and he can slip by
hopefully

Steven, the rock i bought was pre-cured and bought at the LFS. So it had no dieoff and is precolonized. Plus, I used a cup of LS from my 6 month old 55g in the dry sand to help seed it faster. I think they should be fine. Thanks for letting me know though.

Here are some new pics since I added a few more little rocks in there. And good news! I found those shrooms and they are alive! So I placed them on a rock so they dont move, and hopefully they can grow again!

As you can see, I am having a big cyano outbreak. How should I combat this?

The tank looks good....great aquascaping! The only problem i see is the gorgonian...they need very low light and low flow, things not found in most aquapods.
