EEK! Do they really need low flow and lighting? I know that he isn't in a high flow area. But I thought they needed moderate flow because they rely on filter feeding? And plus, I am putting this into my Dwarf Seahorse tank when I order the horses soon.

Alrighty, update time!!! I traded my 7" Vlamingii Tang for come SPS frags today! I traded for a Green Slimer frag and a Purple Rim cap frag. He gave me 3 frags of each though! Some are small, but they will grow!!! PICS:

Your really lucky yours didnt crack..i just got mine on Friday and one whole side was cracked :( Hopefully my next one will be ok...but nice tank! and...Good Luck!

I would definitely stop adding stuff until you take care of that cyano problem you have there. Are you testing your water parameters?

btw, that plate coral looks really nice. Good luck and keep us posted on your tank.

Yeah, the corals wern't really planned and I had to get rid of the Tang I had. But I am done for awhile anyways. I will hopefully be able to get some Red Slime Remover so I can get rid of that cyano.

Well, the smallest of each frag I got both died. But the others are beggining to bleach just a little. I am thinking it's because I didn't light acclimate them. But they're polyps are all open, so I am not too afraid of them dieing on me now!

Nice tank so far... but i do encourage you to slow down as well.
You are being entrusted to take care of live animals....... why put something alive at extreme risk?

Enjoy your tank... Just adding live rock to my tank provided hours of enjoyment for weeks on end.. Watching all the micro-life appear over the weeks was simply amazing....

Your cyano outbreaks, your sps frags bleaching to me are all signs that your tank is not mature enough and water quality is suffering as a result.

I'm sure you have the best intentions and are excited but I'd encourage you to enjoy what you have .... aslo a trading your 7" tang in your 55G was a SMART thing.... :D

Now that you have your tank up for a while, what is the tank temperature is like? Peak temp? night temp? Do you use any cooling devices? What is the room temp keep at? Any noise from the tank?
I love to know because I want to set up the same tank for my office. TIA

Thanks guys, but as I said above... I am done for awhile. LOL I am out of money! But my tank amazingly makes no noie whatsoever. The temp is at 83 all the time, day and night because I have my heater set for 83 so it doesn't drop to 78 every night and stress the corals. I have no cooling device on the tank

nice looking zoas. you've gone a long way since the last time i looked at this thread. i'm considering purchasing a 24g aquapod myself soon. how's the flow rate in ur pod? can you explain more about your maxijet mod?

Thanks for the comments. About the Maxi-jet mod, what do you want me to explain? How I did it? And about the flow, it is a pretty good amount of flow with the 2 Maxi 900's, and yet I still have cyano in the tank! I am going to get Red Slime Remover soon hopefully.

Haven't updated in awhile, so here are some new pics! I bought a Yellow Tail Damsel, a Diamond Goby, and this big colony of zoos! I also bought some cheato for my DIY fuge, and put a PC light bulb in place of the stock incadescent bulb (it heated up my tank to much). The cheato has helped with the cyano a TON!!!

And here is my LASTEST project!

he already ets frozen foods such as shrimp, mussles, ect. And is somewhat active during the day so far. He is really neat to watch!

He is a Bimac. He will grow to have an appoximate 20" armspan. And the trigger would rip the Bimac apart, so I sold the trigger. The octopus now has the whole 55g to himself.

Without seeing pics of "the diamond goby" I'd assume it's a diamond sleeper goby. Please, for Christ's sake (and the fish's) take it somewhere else. Even your 55 isn't established enough to keep it fed. Who the hell is selling you all this stuff for a month old 24 gallon tank?

I'm not trying to be a "meanie pants" and was even a *bit* perturbed at how harsh a few people were being to you. But this is just too much.

"Awhile" is not 9 days, that's a minute when talking about a reef tank. My sleeper got stuck under a rock (we thought he was dead) only to appear a week or so later VERY malnurished, and in dire straights. We've been feeding him like mad to get him back to where he can even feed himself (One of the lucky few to get one that'll eat prepared foods) and I don't want to see you go through it... That's of course if you even care about the animals, which I find hard to believe because you keep flooding this poor 24 gallon tank.
