i am very excited to anounce the start of a 29 gallon aga nano some time in the next month. this is what i plan

29 gallon aga and stand
aqua c remora (hang on thank or urchin)
metal halide
live rock
sand
15-20 gallon sump
fish coral

question- which halide fixture

ocean light 250 watt
orbit sundial hanging pendant with 1 250 halide and 2 32 watt pcs

i like the orbit because it has built in timer, hanging materials, and pcs.

i will have more questions as i collect more information

Thanks

If I were you I would ditch the Remora and go with a CSS 125 or 220. Lighting, I also like the Orbit light fixtures. The built in timers is a really cool feature.

Yeah the 250 would be a little over kill. I have a piece of screen over my tank. The 250 SE was burning my corals and causing them to die out.

I have an iron stand which lets you put an 29 on the top and one on the bottom. It is similar to this one.

I'd highly recommend getting the tank drilled. It really does make everything easier . The hob overflows aren't very reliable and can cause floods.

A 29g sump is most likely not going to fit under your stand. I wanted a big sump/fuge so I have it sitting next to the tank. I keep all my electrical equipment under the stand.

where can i get it drilled? do you think a hardware store can do it?
i have never drilled an aquarium or even had a sump so i need to know-
how to make a sump
where to drill
can i use the already made aga megaflow sump (26 gallon) or is it much better to make one?

sorry for all of my questions, i am just extremely excited.

Thanks

Where do you live?
Some LFS can drill the tanks. You don't drill a sump. You just let the water from the display tank drain into the sump. People have drilled their own tanks and have had success but also people have broken tanks that way.

Here is an OLD link to my aquarium when I set it up on Dec. of 05.

I used an over flow box because I could not find a LSF to drill my tank, but from the over flow box to the sump I have the PVC. I did add a 90 degree elbow to point the water down into the sump.

i have 250w 10000k aquamedic pendant w/2x27w actinics.tank looks great ,but top off is like everother day.if you do a mh make sure u vent it and fan if possible.
