i knew you would be back TJ
I've been helping a member with a sump build, and if they decided to put it together over the holiday weekend I wanted to make sure their questions were answered.

So I figured while I was on I'd post my numbers and pictures from today.

But back to the break. Hope everyone is having a good 4th :)

Thanks for the update! Why the turbo for only a few days? And what is up with the red stuff? My sons Nano is showing cyano today.....off with the lights. Will this hurt the nem?

The turbo will pick the little remaining fuzz clean in just a few days, probably less than that, and that's all I have him in there for. I have 3 in the display tank, and they put a serious dent in what remaining nuisance algae the tangs miss.

I'm not 100% sure what the red "fuzz" is. It's not cyano, I know that. It came in with the blade caulerpa I used to have in the refugium. Since I pulled out all of that, and replaced it with cheato, I notice more of the "fuzz" algae throughout the fuge.

Will lights out get rid of the cyano in my bubba's tank? (his name is Graham)

He kinda looks like a tang! :)

Hey TJ, does the fuzz resemble this stuff at all?

Thanks for the thread. I turned off the lights yesterday, so I guess Monday the actinics go back on. I only question my anemenoe. This tank doesn't really get any light at all, so should I move the nem to my dt?

i agree with capn on that one, have you posted numbers on your tank, i dont think i have seen them. is it only a problem on your sons nano or you DT tank too.

Did some post water change tests today:

Also, I pulled the toadstool leather out of the tank, and stuck it upstairs in the QT tank. I'm not really sure what its deal is, but it was shedding yesterday, and it hasn't looked good since I stuck it in the tank. Now it's starting to grow some brown algae on it, so I'm just pulling it out, and we'll see if it comes back around in QT.

On the positive side, the 2 zoanthid frags I thought I lost, are slowly rebounding in the QT tank. My favorite zoanthid frag magically dissapeared off the rock I glued it to, and I can't find it anywhere in the tank. So that kind of stinks.

I'm done with zoanthids, and leathers. I'm just going to stick to SPS, as that seems to be what I'm having the best luck with.

I would go one more week before making an adjustment--the numbers are really good right now

A picture of how my RO/DI unit is hooked up below the sink in my laundry room.

Do you have an automatic stop off on that system?

Shot of the PBT and his tiger stripes. They seem to only show up if he gets "spooked" all of a sudden.

I wonder if the stripes are a juvenile thing like the mimic tang

I agree, and will hold off for a little while longer. Yeah the water change boosted the dKH... The dKH of the water change water was actually 12. Then I boosted up the Ca a little. I've been adding equal parts of each B-Ionic for the past 2 weeks. 30ml of each.

Nope, I usually just wheel a container in, and it takes about 4 hours to fill up. I usually do it before I go to bed, when I'm also doing laundry for the morning

Then set my alarm to wake up, throw the clothes in the dryer, shut it off, and jump back in bed for a few hrs.
