Yep you have drawn quite a crowd. LOL.
I'm absolutely amazed by the amount of support this thread has received. :D

I just checked, and we've already ran through 21 pages in the new thread in 11 days :eek2:

Just noticed that

I like it... cool idea Kar

;) If you post the usual welcome banner and then edit that post, you will see in the HTML that is created it says "To Reef Central". And just edit that to "To The Clubhouse".

hmm --I wonder if it has anything to do with certain captn recommending it everytime he sees the opportunity there for another club member to gain knowledge and have a little fun at the same time.
It's funny we as humans seem to have the need to belong to something-----what started out as a bit of humour with the club idea is really applealing to that need.

This is the first thread I go to everyday when I log on and I am sure others do.
What I personally like about it is that it deals with ongoing everyday things that happen in this hobby and how to deal with them
and of course the occasional pictures of TJ's atheletic gf, Rae and Leysa helps too:lol:

found this also, anyone know if it will work well on glass?
http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+10090+3771+9822&pcatid=9822

the sump/refuge came with the tank and was well planned out but the thing that bothered me was the acrylic baffles. the other thing is the tank is very low with small doors(not the way i would have built a stand) was planning on redoing the stand next year with a 30 underneath instead of a 29, right now i would have to empty the tank or devise a way to take the sump out like melev did for his 29 on his website.

I haven't seen the sump so I asking in the dark here--what would happen if you just took the baffle out?

It isn't all that clear to see, but it seems like it is merely a white sponge. It won't really do any harm unless it can take over the coral, which I doubt.

The one thing you do need to know about sponge is if it is exposed to air, it dies. If you pull out that coral to cut branches, you must scrape off any sponge and dispose of it because it will die as soon as it is exposed to air for even seconds. You don't want that stuff dying in your tank. This goes for live rock with sponge on it as well.

However, there is no reason to fear it either. I have tons of sponge in my reef. All different colors. As long as it is submerged, it's fine. And if you happen to have any angels in your tank, they'll eat it.

thanks Marc--that explains why mine disappeared then---the coral beauty probably took care of it

Leysa could always put a Moorish Idol in there to take care of it-------just joking:eek2: :eek2: :D

okay I understand

i wedged a 4" long 2" wide piece of pvc that i had for my QT(i did clean it with some vinegar and it had been dry for 2 months.

now i get to sit at work and worry lol. IF i have to i think i can take the tank out by cutting the opening of one of the doors by 2 inches, but the stand is going to look a little ugly :(

nice pic lol, reminds me of an old 70 ad for something

looking at your chart, wow it doesnt even seam that long ago that you added the shrimp and gobies lol

Hey does that Pinpoint wireless thermometer work good? I can never find one that works for any length of time.

Thanks!

So far it's doing the trick. I have 2 of them. One stays in the sump at all times, and I use the other on days I test to confirm the acuracy.

I need to pick up a glass thermometer though to double check that they are all still accurate.

I'm not sure what effect battery life would have on the readings. I've already had to replace my batteries once.

Thanks!

I have one with three sensors that record three different temperatures in the same water column...not very impressed with the one I have.

That's good news... I can't wait to see pictures once you get 2 pumps rolling on it.
