IMO, Anthias are one of the most beautiful fish in this hobby. It's great to see them swimming about in their schools/shoals (I can never remember which one is NND). Great addition to a tank. ;)

I think they are great and would be an asset to your tank T.J.

I started out with two pairs but am done to one pair. I think they behave like schools of chromis---always after the weaker--and overtime the strongest survive.

I have a link to the anthias thread on the capn's logbook thread but here it is anyways

you can add me to the yes category, they look like great fish and the only reason i have not picked any up are that they can be agressive to firefish which i have.

i knew i should have posted this yesterday, now it looks like i am copying swift.:strange:

lol i have a week off comming up and wanted to order from reefhotspot, trying to decide on some coral and a fish but the one i want is over 100.00 lol so my options are, bellus angel/wanatabe or swallow tail angel and some coral.

the only other fish i would consider atm is a gold rim tang, that way i dont have to worry about the angel nippin at any clams i might want in the future.

i am open to suggestions tho, i can list fish list and tank parameters if needed.

edit: swift they have dispar anthias on sale for 12.99 :eek2:

day3 progress
Powder blue is one of the group of tangs now--has a slightly frayed back tail---thats all--and its speed seems unaffected by it

Copperbanded butterlfy----is and has been treated with indifference by the rest of the group. Still only eats mysis shrimp

Cream angel-----still hovering in the left corner of the tank and still has the pajamma cardinal watching over it. Once in a while the damsel comes close but then goes off somewhere else.
He has a very chewed back tail but it doesn't affect his swimming or his appetite.

Has anyone fed there copper banded butterfly anything else then mysis shrimp.

Pics to follow

Thanks for the link Scott. The guy at SaltyCritter made a similiar comment about the anthias. He said the females should be purchased at different sizes to lessen the opportunity of conflict???

I saw that. I'll have to give them a call to see if that goes for both males and females.

LiveAquaria had a sale that must have just ended today... figures :rolleye1: Although I see they have a black cap jawfish on sale now that looks pretty cool.

Black Cap Jawfish Link

I'm rethinking the blue spot jawfish, because that's a lot to pay for a fish who's head is the only thing you get to see

I really like the Gold Rim/White Cheek Tang... They have a 4" one in the Diver's Den right now:

carefull before you fall in love too much for angels--alot of them love both lps and sps coral polyps

if they still have that white cheek when i am ready to order i am kinda leaning towards it, do you think it will out grow my tank tho?

Yeah I was originally planning on a Regal Angel, but now have pretty much thrown out the thought of adding an angelfish to my tank.
