looks like one of the walls on the refugium/sump is giving out. its tinted plexiglass siliconed to the tank, any ideas without taking the sump out?

You could use some more acrylic or eggcrate as wedges to keep it in place. For example if the baffle is starting to lean to the right, put the egg crate or acrylic on the right side against the front and back wall to act like giant stops.

Of course, if the acrylic baffle is 1/8" thick, all bets are off. It will bow so badly that it will crack in half even if it doesn't pull away from the walls first.

Cross brace temporarily? And then epoxy the hell out of it with underwater curing epoxy?

braced it with some pvc for now, will look in the lfs but i doubt they have any of the underwater stuff

my word--you fillet yours--that must take alot of time and patience TJ----I suppose you descale them too like bass or perch:lol:
haha... oh no... just ripped those bad boys apart in the middle

I had to give one to my shrimp though... I also fed the brain coral a piece, and the shrimp kept trying to snatch it out until I gave him his own chunk. Then he happily dissapeared into the rockwork with his new treasure.

Skimmer post script

I got a hold of the company this morning and they sent out a new impeller right away

I am just waiting for it to be air dropped over my house right now :)

the skimmer took about half a top tank of nice skimmate out in 24 hours with one pump
Good stuff... I'll be able to sleep again once this whole situation is over

found this also, anyone know if it will work well on glass?

the sump/refuge came with the tank and was well planned out but the thing that bothered me was the acrylic baffles. the other thing is the tank is very low with small doors(not the way i would have built a stand) was planning on redoing the stand next year with a 30 underneath instead of a 29, right now i would have to empty the tank or devise a way to take the sump out like melev did for his 29 on his website.

With the skimmer at least half working I decided to add the copper banded butterfly and the powder blue tang to the display tank.
The opposite happened that I thought would happen---everyone ignored the copper banded butterfly but the three tangs I really ganging up on the power blue. I think it is holding its own though its just a bunch of tail wagging right now. The biggest instigator is the sailfin who has completely igonored any new comers to this point
Night time is very close so I am sure they will forget about the pbt by tomorrow.
Hopefully :)
Haha... He may be running that tang in the near future... Merlin doesn't take anything from anybody now.

I even saw him toss my one large tonga nas snail off the sand into the air the other day.

The big bully.

Man that stinks... Can you shut down the sump for 24hrs, drain the compartment, slide a new baffle in there and seal it in?

Well had to update the "Hobby Experience" I can't believe it's already been 4 years since I caught the saltwater bug.

My first setup was a 55g FOWLR sumpless tank in my dorm room at college that Laura bought me for my birthday... came a long way from there to say the least

i could drain the water out of the return area, put a heater in the refuge, and a small pump to circulate the water, and try to silicone it on the side the water is comming out of, it 2 inches off one of the walls that the water broke through.

or buy the epoxy, and brace the top 4 inches of the wall with 3 square pvc units made out of 1" pvc untill i redo the stand.

I would be tempted to purchase a new glass baffle, and install it with silicone.

Do you have enough room to reach in and install a new baffle?
