I replaced the ball valve I had here with a gate valve in order to fine-tune the water leaving the overflow n top. It was just TOO picky with the ball valve and didn't let me tweak it just right. This gate valve did the trick today

Here is a best try to get a full-length shot of the underside.

Here is a shot of the return side of the sump

Here is a shot of the intended fuge section of the sump. The drop down bar has fine holes in to circulate the water around the compartment before going back to the tank. Hopefully it will be full of PODS!!!

I had originally done the back of the tank with 4 overflow exits just in case I ever needed to add another one in the future; well that future came about right quick. I read that one of the problems with the Orca 250 being fed with a pump was that if the power went out, once it came back on it would take a while to charge up again, and kicking in, creating a flooding situation. Also read that if it was gravity fed, that the problem would be solved because it would charge up the same way/time the internal overflow would allowing for the margin of timing to catch up...

Here is the drain pipe for the return pump to the tank.

Return pump going up to the Oceans Motions...its tee off as well to feed the fuge drop pipe.

That Tee started to leak this afternoon under the pressure; must have been a bad batch...I replaced it right away.

Looking great! I need to hire you to redo my tank plumbing. Can't wait to see it setup. Let me know if you want to make a stocking trip when it gets established as I am finally back in town for a while.

Magrath, you got a bet on that. I just got certified for advance open water, Nitrox, boat, deep, and working on night. Looking to get certified by late next year as a dive instructor...so I need the dives as well. Snorkeling will be fine too!

Debating right now about the sand to put in. Jeff used pre-washed sand when we did his set up and down at Torii because it was rinsed out with fresh water, killing everything nasty...I can just seed it with someone's estab tank and wala! I'm thinking about making water for the first batch as well, though Deep ocean water thru a micro filter will work as well. Thats alot of water though and wil need some help getting herre. But that's in the future for right now..Still doing leak tests, etc....

Hey Lionel.....You made mention that you can get a pretty good deal on bulk salt mix...how good a deal for about 400 gallons...?

www.drsfostersmith.com

much better than the deal i have locally. $45+ about $10 for shipping for a 5 gallon bucket of salt, which is good for about 200 gallons of water. I use the red sea coral pro salt, it's got extra calcium and such in it for use with ro/di water.

locally, it's going to cost you $100 for the same bucket.

I use local sea water taken about a mile off shore and have had no problems. I have nine five galleon containers that I can fill for you if you need some seawater just let me know, I would be happy to help. If you would like to give me some containers to fill I can do that as well.

Lionel if you want to go out to collect sometime let me know or if there are some specific softies or SPS's you want let me know I am in the water fairly often and can get and hold them for you.

I run amphibious raid courses and have boats at my disposable. I sometimes have to buy it from the fish lady but I normally gather it myself.
