Transfer # 3 tomorrow, fish are seeming stressed a bit. After transfer 4, I'll be putting them in a 40 until the DT has finished the fallow period.
Are you adding Prime?

No?!?!? I missed that somewhere in the reading. What's prime and what's it do? Can it be added while they're in there? I'll head to LFS when I have more info.
Prime is an ammonia neutralizer that is normally added on day two of tank transfer (review the sticky); it cannot be used with copper
Picked it up. I scanned the stickie and the link you gave me and can't find where it talks about prime. Could be that my phones not showing all stickies, I've had that issue before as well. Anyways, thanks for the help.
You are correct, it is not in the TTM sticky but it should be, especially if more than one fish is going through TTM. I think I have too many stickies!
Nice, glad it was caught so you can add it for the next guy.
You said to add on day 2, so day two of each transfer?
That is correct. At the moment, my level of participation on Reef Central is limited because I am going through Chemo where every 10 days out of 21 is very difficult.

So my LFS just acquired a product that is not yet available for retail purchase so they just dumped a little in a cup for me to try. It is a fish food that supposedly keeps the fish from getting ich for the rest of its life. It is NOT reef safe and is fed for 20 days. I am trying it on a new naso tang I added to my QT about a week ago. He has been a very picky eater, and I was afraid he wouldn't touch it, but he ate it. We will see what happens. If it works, all fish that get quarantined will be fed this before they go into they display.

Well, the only thing that could prevent a fish from getting ich is a vaccination, but to my knowledge such a vaccination does not jet exist.
The other thing I find suspicious is that this should be administered via food. In general vaccinations of fish are done via injections.
As for your fish: it not getting sick wouldn't prove anything as it may have acquired immunity (full or partial) in a previous encounter with ich.
I would want to see a more controlled test to see if this is actually working. For such a test fish that had never before contact with ich should get immunized and then survive a deadly level ich challenge.
Until then I'm rather skeptical of yet another "wonder weapon" against ich.
Geez, this is why I don't hardly ever post on here anymore, serious group of haters here! For one thing, the product HAS been tested. It is a commercially produced product that has seen positive results in tests. Secondly, I DO know what is in it. I looked up the ingredients listed on their packaging. Obviously if it works, then a vaccine is not the only way to prevent ich.
Regardless, thank you for the not-so-constructive criticisms. Whether it works or doesn't work, I will see, but if it does, I will be a happy camper.

Of course you hijacked someone else's thread to talk about it without disclosing name of product or ingredients. You said it is not commercially available? Start your own thread and provide links so we can all examine the ingredients, testing, and claims.
