Starting Hyposalinity today for ich

I will be happy to. My LFS could only give me a little bit in a plastic bag, so I don't have the labeling, but when I go tomorrow I will take a picture of the ingredients and share :)

4 th tank transfer... Done! When these 72 hours are up, everyone will be heading into the 40g.

Now... I have a 40 DT that's fallow for another 2.5 months, only one skimmer. I'm going to put the skimmer on the fish, and then just weekly water change the reef.... Will that work?

Weekly WC of 10 gallons, so 25%. Will that work on the reef for the next 2.5 months?

Nice! They're on their way to good health!

Should be good since there shouldn't be much food going into the DT. Make sure you thoroughly clean and allow for proper drying time on the skimmer before using it on the QT. Don't want any contamination.

Skimmer is currently drying out after having a vinegar bath. Fish all appear to be Ich free. Second round (due to me missing 72 hour deadline in the first TTM) went very well, I became a pro by the end.

One question, for QT.... Do you guys also TTM with each new fish??

Awesome, I figured as much but wanted to confirm. Thanks again!

The reason, by the way, is that many sources of fish (LFS/online) run a non-therapeutic level of copper which can mask many of the more serious parasites for about 4 weeks.

Thanks Steve, you all have been very helpful through this. Hope you had a Merry Christmas and your treatments are going quickly.

Well. I am rather frustrated to be reporting this. It means I messed up the first time around. 3 fish today are showing Ich, a month after TTM was complete. Haven't added anything, and they're still in QT while the DT is fallow. Not sure where I could've went wrong, and why the 3 started showing it today!!!

Man. I am really bummed about this. I guess the positive is that the 290 isn't done cycling... So the fish didn't but that tank! I am really frustrated. I made sure I was well under 72 hours each time. Everything was thoroughly washed with vinegar and dried, plus had two of everything. What in the world. I was a stickler about cross contamination from fallow tank to QTs and never worked on both at the same time.

I am sorry to hear that. TTM has always worked for me. Is your quarantine in a separate room?

No. It's possibly through air I guess. TT tank was about 8 feet from DT, but DT doesn't have crazy agitation that I thought would be an issue. This really is frustrating to me as I thought I covered ever "rule" by the book.

I have water brewing to start again tomorrow. I am thankful it is showing itself now rather than after 290 is cycled.

My worry is for doing TTM on new comers as my QT process. If I can't do it right now, am I going to be able to keep it out of the DT in the future.

How did you make out? Im going to start mine

TTM done and complete for the (hopefully) final time. No signs of Ich yet. DT has been fallow for over 72 days, but keeping these guys in QT for a bit being it took them so long to show Ich after the last TTM. How's it going for you?
