Starting my propogation business...

Jimmy, did you also think the bank would sell the business for literally a song and a dance?

Indeed they will want to liquidate the assets, usually on one given day via auction best bid on the day wins. Some times as a going concern or otherwise they will break it down to lots.

When i started my farm a large fish farm went bust and I went to the auction. One thing I bought was 12 20 gal parabolic larva rearing tanks custom made with various interchangeable screens for selective feeding different size feeds. $100 for the whole lot.... bought heaps of stuff pumps etc for next to nothing as there were no fish farmers or coral farmers at the auction. Farmers were buying 10,000 gal grow out tanks for $50 just to use for collecting rainwater.

The site had to be cleared by the end of the weekend so could buy none myself as i had no way to move them.

so here is an odd twist of events... my business partner's girlfriend is throwing a large morton shed (an insulated warehouse type of building farmers use to store machinery, for those not familiar) on her property, and has decided to just throw on an extra 1,000 square feet in a separate room attached to the shed to our specifications, to serve as a primary location until renovations at my location are done. Also, I saw an amazing looking radiantly neon green bubble tip with bright orange tips and a rich purple base on bluezoo and snatched it up along with a rose bubble on sale. The green bubble (which was the clear prize of the two) adjusted almost instantly once introduced to its tank. the rose looked a bit unhappy for the first few hours, but looked progressively better and readily ate after about 2 hours. Yesterday it looked fantastic, and today it looks like hammered hell and seems to be going through the horrible-looking pains of adjustment that some RBTAs seem to go through. I have had RBTAs both live and die during the adjustment phase, but also have had some that never go through it at all. Only time will tell. On the flip side, the Green Bubble looks bigger every day (its significantly larger than the posted size when i purchased it), and if it maintains this healthy look over the next 4 weeks, we will begin splicing mid june. The new facility should be completed around July 1st.

Sooooo... my fiance (no longer girlfriend) moved into my building, and we have been continuing renovations, but more on the main building where i live, which made coral farm garage renovations run stagnant. So we decided to do what anyone else with insane drive and little free time would do: Call in the professionals. We moved the center of operations on a property 45 minutes closer to Chicago, and professionally built a new morton shed. closed cell spray insulation, electrical has been run, water is connected, and the concrete guys just epoxied the floor. Tonight we are moving up one of the 1,500 gallon cisterns and the other should be soon to follow. I will post pics here shortly. I just got off the phone with the supplier for the tanks to get 5 or 6 delivered there next week, and I'm ordering the reverse osmosis system and pallet of salt shortly. I will post new pics here when i find time to breathe.

Cycling 6 tanks right now, and adding anemones shortly. Here is a pic.
