Starting NP Biopellets

On the PO4 level vs NO3 - isn't NO3 less harmful than PO4? PO4 = GHA, slow calcification, NO3 = brown acros...

Thats what Ive seen, Ive even seen pics of tanks withhigh nitrates that still had great colors, po4 was inthe good range though.

3. Don't run alkalinity higher than 8 or so. Some corals may get STN in a Ultra Low Nutrient System (ULNS) with alkalinity over 8. IMO 7.5 is ideal.

Thats contrary to what a bunch of people are doing here and having good results. Time will tell but I thought people were not experiencing alk burn with the pellets like they were with vodka. Im hoping low alk is not needed because my tank seems much happier 9-10dkh than 7-8, better colors better growth.

I also run my tanks alk at around 9-9.5. I am considering trying this stuff instead of phosban. Anyone use BP with a higher alk?

Ok, but how does that dump ozone into the system
"Statement 2 had better be false, or the pellets are dumping ozone into the water column, which is what they're designed not to do."
Argh! Sorry, I mis-typed. I meant to say that statement two had better be false, or the pellets are dumping carbon into the water column.

I think that the reason why it's not recommended to use ozone or UV is that the bacteria that ARE sloughed off are potentially still "living" food. And that as a living food source they are more beneficial. Both for feeding live bacteria to the corals and such, and for potentially reporducing in the proper "zones" in the aquarium, such as deep in the rock or sand...

Again This is just what I seem to remember reading in the NP thread. I can only think that the carbon source when it's living is less detreimental to the tank than it is if it's a DEAD carbon source that is just adding nitrates (or phos.) to the tank as dead and decaying matter.

I started the pellets a couple of days ago, I am using a Deltic phos reactor with a Eco plus pump 396 sorry I through away the box. I used appr 250 ML. I got a tumble but the media stayed low in the reactor. I may switch to a Eheim 1250 pump. I woke up this morning to a bloom nice n white. I do have a oversized skimmer I-Tech 200 Sicce the first two days the bubble where much larger and I had to turn down my skimmer because it kept overflowing. Today a very dry white foam.
