So my Clownfish started about 3 weeks ago, laying eggs. and now im going to give my hand at breeding them. so ive google searched to no end doing reading but I get so much conflicting Info all over the board. Can anyone guide me to the right place o go for good info?

Also, this is going to be my set up. Crtiques welcome

3 20 Long Tanks, One Breed Tank, One Larve Tank, one grow Out tank.

2 2 liters for Phyto

1 2.5 Gallon tank for Rotofers

The Breed Tank will be on a canister filter.

The larve tank, Im not sure how to filter this as Im worred about losing the larve in some sort of filtration, Ideas would be appreciated!

The Grow out will be on a canister filter as well, just with mesh across the intake.

Ill have a PC light set up on an 8 hour on light schedule.

anyhelp would be great!

There are a couple of very good long running threads right in this forum, lots of good info on the trials and tribulations of breeding.

Looking at your list, I do have a couple of suggestions. Grow more phyto, it's good to have one more culture going than you need in case of crash. Also, while I prefer using live phyto, I also like to keep some of Reed's Instant Algae pastes around as a back up. Some folks also prefer the pastes over live. With the rots, grow 2 cultures, again one is back up.

For the larval rearing, I just use daily siphoning and water changes until they get enough size to handle a simple low flow sponge filter ;)

very good. thanks.

Question though, are the treads in the archives? I only see 5 threads on this forum.

Under display options at the bottom, change the 3 option from "last day" to "a month" or "beginning" so it shows all the threads from that point to now. Hope this helps

what i do is daily water changes up to meta then an air driven sponge filter,if you put the sponge in another tank or sump it will cycle by the time you need it

the growout cannister filter would be too powerful until the juvis are 3-4 months old, bigger or multiple sponge filters may be better until the fish are 1/2-3/4" long

joyce wilkersons book is very good, the only thing missing is any info on rotifer food other than phyto but loads of good info there,i still refer to it often

2 things i would say.firstly try and master phyto and rotifer production and get a good robust culture going before you attempt to raise the larvae, you dont want a rotifer crash on day 2,and reed rotifer diet is a lot easier (for me) than live phyto
secondly what works for one person doesnt necessarily work for another thats why you are getting conflicting imformation, you have to develop your own method and try different things,it took me 8 attempts to raise GSM's regularly and 5 attempts for ocellaris, just to complicate things every nest is different, you just need to persevere
