Break some of the rock up if you have to bro-take your time getting the rock the way you want or it will be a pain later-I made that mistake as you know-

Jon, the light rack has 3 sections. The two out side section is for ATI PM and the middle is for the Sfiligoi exaggerate. I try to put 2 ATI PM 24w in between the MH which require a bit modification. What do you mean by lamps not having the same dimensions? You mean they will discontinue the T-5...?

Not the lamps themselves, but the fixtures. As they change models, I would think the outer dimensions would change too?

Can I chime in on the pillars? IMO they could be a mistake. FIrst of all, we look at it like more room for corals right? But then the upper corals shade the lower ones, so we have to go back to the reef philosophy of the person doing the build. SPS? LPS? Mixed Reef? For me, I would rather have my corals be the "pillars" than the rock.

The caveat is early-stage viewing is not as good. As far as final placement, I would highly recommed, especially since your rock is dry, to drill and mount the rock onacrylic or carbon fiber rods to elevate it off the tank bottom 2 - 4" allowing strong water flow underneath the structure. Not doing this was a major mistake I made when I put my reef together, but I was working with trans-shipped live rock.

Pegging them together is not a bad idea for a tank in Kalifornia either.

Joe, i understand what you mean. I just get the rock inside to gather ideas. I will change it around a bit later because the wife don't like the rock work either.

If you mean acrylic shelves, that too can be an issue. Not sure though what you are referring to by "3/4" acrylic".

Well, I have perforated PVC in my media reactor, and even chock full of holes, it still collects a lot of detritus. I would be very glad to snap a picture for you. Give it some thought. If i was using dry rock, I would spend the time.

It is cast... Let me give it a try. My 9 stages RODI unit took me 2 hours to install last night to find out that one of the membrane housing is busted...
