Hey everyone.
I was in my LFS a few days ago and they had a blue Giantea in one of their tanks. It was amazing! almost a foot and a half across.

My first reaction was... "I want it!" Then i saw that its mouth was gapping :( dang!

I called today and talked to the shop owner. He said that it is eating silversides and chopped shrimp right now. He wont sell it for a few weeks to make sur eit is healthy.

They are asking $250 for it... is this a good price?

Thanks!

Seems a bit hefty to me but I guess if it's large then the market value is higher. Although if you ask me the smaller ones are the safer bet, both my gigantea's that I have right now were pretty small when I bought them, and they're both with me still.

Yeah, i think you are right although this is the first gigantea i have seen. They are rare around here the blue ones more so.

I think I will put a deposit down on it and wait a few weeks till it looks better before I take it home.

I know how you feel. I waited an eternity to find some up here. Four years before I found one that hadn't been snatched up by someone else!

I did see a blue one back in January, and it -killed- me to not buy it (but I had to pass, I had nowhere to put it!). My LFS contact assured me, no worries, now that I know where to order them from, I can get more. He went out of business a month later. :(

This crazy hobby!

Yeah, try the deposit. Good luck! Let us know if you pick it up. :)
