Alright I think my biggest fear might have happened . . . Here is my breakdown . . . .I have a 300 Gallon FOWLR and here is my Stock list of fish:

4 - CLowns
3 - Yellow Tangs
1 - Yellow Eye Tang
1 - Unicorn Tang
1 - Dogface Puffer
1 - Niger Trigger
1 - Blue Throat Trigger
2 - White Gobis
1 - Atlantic Angel
2 - Pink Anthias

This past weekend I added the 2 pink anthias along with a Flame Angel, after a few hours I noticed the Flame Angel looked like is had Sugar sprinkled all over it , I tried to catch but of course it's such a big tank damn near impossible . . . I tried to reduce as much stress as possible by feeding a little more than I usually do . . . Well today the Flame Angel was on the bottom of the tank dead . . . I removed him right away!

My question is, will the rest of my tank be okay, if it was Ich does it help that the tank is so large and won't effect all the fish? I plan on doing a 30% water change in the next few days! Should I be concerned???

Any feedback helps, thanks!!!

First off it wont matter that you have 300gal of water I have 750gal of water and if one gets it ....the whole system is susceptible......now you say you added all these fish yesterday ....was this after a QT period or just a drop and flop.......and you say the system is only a fish only system ....so we can take it you have no corals ....what about inverts?.....if only some inverts .....remove them give them to a friend to hold....drop the salinity of the system down to 1.008 slowly say 4 pts a day till its there then wait 4 weeks after the last visible spot on any fish this will clean you DT of any of the ick parasites pertaining that you have an ato and the system stays at the specified salinity....I would shoot for 6 weeks just to be sure....that is if this was ick in your system and until you get some confirmation the DT should be considered compromised and no new fish added.........if its a fish only I would just treat it and be done with it and KNOW I had a clean system .....then I would start off with revisiting your plans for adding new fish .....pm me for a number if you would like some help

Thanks for the fast reply, i added the 2 pink anthias and the flame angel on Friday, flame was dead today Monday . . . I have no corals and no inverts! Unfortunately my QT is not set up yet , took the word of the LFS saying they QT'd there fish, acclimated and dropped in. I def will not be adding any other fish to the system until I know for sure, can this kill my other livestock???

Also, about the salinity how do you reduce the salinity??? I noticed when I just checked it yesterday it was a bit high but all the other parameters were in line!

Thanks!!

yes the other fish are a risk of anything the ones you put in had....lower the salinity by draining some of the water say 25% and adding simply RODI in its place measure the salinity and proceed until you reach the desired level .....pm me with your number and I can call you this evening if you need assistance

Thank You will do!!!

Matt is da bomb when it comes to this. He has helped me a ton. Good Luck with your situation.

Thank You will do!!!

One thing Im not sure as I re read the advise to you is make sure you doing that 25% or so daily not 25% then another 25% then ....all in one day this should lower your salinity by around .004 per day.....going down in salinity is very easy on the fish as they can breath easier but do need time to get used to it.....going up in salinity is a different story as they have to get used to breathing again in water with less O2.........bringing up I would only do that about 3 points every 3-4 days monitoring as you do it and this is just me you dont have to but I put in a few air stones and run them just leaving them on the whole time 24/7 and even for a week or so after its back to the levels Im raising it to just to ease the process and make sure adequate O2 is in the water......

if your running a fish only also just a note I keep my salinity at 1.022 regularly .....just makes it easier on a large fish load

From the looks of your fish and tank, I can def use the advise . . . My Salinity was very high when i checked last night, going to check again as Im not sure if I read it right, I usually add 2 Gallons a day of RO and 25% water change about every month or month and a half. So if the salinity is high does that mean there is not enough movement in the tank?? Looks like i'm going to be picking your brain for more than just how to treat the ICH! Trying to post a video so you can see!

Thanks

How do the rest of the fish look? Are there signs of ich on any of them? If no signs of ich, personally I wouldnt do the whole hypo thing just yet

none of them have ever been treated or QTed and the DT was exposed to fish that had symptoms of an infection that died.....to not treat a system that is fish only, with no inverts, no corals, only rock and sand that has been exposed and the contents never treated properly to begin with is just asking for trouble and not good advice

treat it get it over with and know its free of any contamination and then QT everything going in .....dont rely on hope or chance....

and just to let you know AL yes the other fish are already showing signs of spots ....and even if they weren't get it taken care of in its beginning stages while the setup is in a perfect state to treat.... dont micky mouse around only to have issues at a later date costing you time and funds

How long does it take for a fish to go from healthy and eating (you did make sure he was eating before the purchase right?) to dead from "Ich"? Probally more than 2 days right? Maybe it wasnt Ich in first place is all I was saying. If the other fish seem affected (which I didnt see mentioned) than by all means Hypo and all that

ya he text me and the blue jaw is showing signs ....also none of the fish have ever been treated so its a perfect time to clean out the system of any possible infections

Matt is right, unfortunately the Blue Jaw is showing signs, however all the fish are eating like they are starving so that is a good sign, The Flame Angel that died ate well in the store, It's my fault for doing a drop and flop, I guess since I had good luck in the past that it was going to be fine . . .

I am going to start with the 1/4% water changes over the next few days of RO/DI which will bring down the Salinity as suggested..... I want to treat and take care of this as fast as possible and as soon as possible as the DT is no where near stocked!

I really hope this works and I will be setting up the QT today as well for the future!!

Hypo WILL kill all your inverts and any corals you might have in there, make sure to remove them first.
