Stocking a 360 g

OrionN

Moved on
Well, I finally got my 360 up and running 72X36X34. I am trying to stock this tank. It will be a high light, high flow, mostly SPS, anemones and clams tank.
It will have a sand bed and open rock structure. Right now not where I want it to be yet but is getting there.
The following fishes are in the tank
White tail (ring tail) tang. My mistake, I was getting a lavender tank but got this one instead. I have already promised him to a friend with a 500 g tank. He is now 4 inches but was only a tiny 1.5 inches when I got him about 5 months ago. He get about 18 inches so he cannot stay in my tank.
Purple tang
One-spot fox face
6 Lye-tail anthias
One Mandarin pair
One Marine Betta pair
One Orchid dottyback pair
One yellowhead jaw fish
One A. percula pair
One SnowOnyx pair
(I got two S. gigantea and one S. haddoni in the tank already)

Fish that will go in to this tank in the near future
One Royal Gramma (likely added a few more)
One pair Wantanabe angles
One Achilles tang
One Atlantic blue tang
one Powder blue tang
One Yellow tang

Am I already over stocking the tank? I wanted to add a Flame angel pair into the tank, but don't know if I should.

Any recommendation? Any other fish I should add? I do not have the tank cover and don't plan to cover this tank so wrasse are not likely other than Leopard wrasse.

TIA
Minh

I'd pass on the Atlantic blue, as they can be overly aggressive and grow to 16 inches. Assuming you rehome the ringtail, the rest of the list looks good IMO. Add the achilles and powder blue at the same time, since both are known to be aggressive once established.

I think the record length of the Atlantic Blue Tang was 16 inches. The common length per fishbas.org of a Atlantic blue tang is about 25 cm or about 10 inches. Per Liveaquaria.com max lenght of about 9 inches.
I got my Atlantic blue when he was all yellow about quarter size included the tail. He is about 4.5 inches now. I think I will add him into my tank. Hi is all blue now, very beautiful fish.
I have all my tangs in various tanks right now. All are healthy and doing great. The Achilles tang I got last week. Already eating my Nori clip that I put in for him. Still a little thin but disease free and should gain weight quickly. I am adding the tangs one at a time. The yellow will go in next.
The Atlantic, Powder blue and Achilles tangs will go in one at a time, smallest one first. In my experience those three are the most aggressive of all the tangs that I keep. I will have 3 or 4 Nori clips to keep the tangs feeding at various place in the tank.

FishBoy05 was kind enough to link this video of his tank on the FOWLR forum, hope he doesn't mind me sharing it here. This is what I think when I hear Atlantic blue: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SPW0_gHyK8

Good start on the Achilles. Once they eat, they put on weight quick. I find in my tank, with many tangs, feeding nori 2-3 times a day makes more of a difference than having multiple clips in at once, but you can experiment with that and figure out what works best for your fish. Good luck, it's gonna be a great looking group of fish!

That is a very large Atlantic Blue. If he is getting any where near that big, I got to get rid of him. I want 7-8 inches fish only.
When I had my 450 g tank running, I put in multiple clips with enough Nori to last the whole day for my tangs. They all have their fill and the most aggressive one cannot hog one clip. The other tanks just go to various clips to feed. Plus I have to work, cannot feed my tank 4 times a day.

My experience in trying to keep an Achilles and PB in the same tank did not go well - personally, I'd go with one or the other (unless of course u already have them together, in which case, never mind).

This is my worry. I got the Achilles, my sons and wifer got me the PB tang at the LFS for Christmas. However, I do have a fairly large tank, and I am looking for very small PB tang to go in with a very small Achilles tang (2 inches). I love both fish so hope it will work out for me. I consider these tangs (BP and Achilles) very aggressive but not extremely aggressive like Clown tang, or the tang on the logo of RC (Alzheimer is setting in, I can't remember)
....
Sohal tang

Come on guys and gals. Anymore opinion?
How many big fish (4-8 inches), how many medium fish (2.5-4 inches) and how may small fish (less than 2.5 inches) should I put in this tank?

I aim for 5 tangs and a Fox Face that are by big fishes.
Marine Betta pair, Wantanabe angel pair, and the Anthias as my medium fishes.
The rest are small fishes.

My yellow head Jaw fish disappeared over the weekend. No jumping that I can see. I am not sure what happen. He may not be too happy since he make his nest against the rock, not in the open sand bed (too small and too shallow?)

Modification:
Purple tang
One-spot fox face
Powder Blue tang
Yellow Tang
Blochii tang
6 Lye-tail anthias
One Mandarin pair
One Marine Betta pair
One Orchid dottyback pair (lost I think eatten by my carpets)
One yellowhead jaw fish (lost eatten by my carpets)
I ran out of room for my clownfish and got about 10 varous clowns Ocellaris. Percula and OccXPer hybrid
I got 5 S. gigantea and 3 S. haddoni and 1 H. magnifica
One Royal Gramma (likely added a few more)
One pair Wantanabe angles

I think I am Tang out. I need to remove that Blotchii tang.

You have almost every other colors but no red at all. How about a red fish like Flame Angel or some kind of Red Wrasses.

The problem is with my wall to wall carpets. I think wrasse and pigmy angle will not last long in that tank. These curious inquisitive fish are just too curious for their own good. either that or their brains are too small

you can add a flame hawk for the red color... very cool fish too!! And add multiple yellow headed jawfish .. they are awesome in groups..

I tried the jaw fish. My tank hav etoo many larger active fish and the Jawfish was not comfortable. I got him to build a dent right in the middle of the sand. One night after 6 weeks in the tank he just disappeared. Not sick or anything. No jumping either. I think the Carpet put him to the reef in the sky. Hawk fish with teir tendency to perk on thinks will end up witht he same fate.

I got pleny of red and orange with the 6 anthias. They ar eout all the time also. Maybe I will try a Flame Angel.
I never though about a Hogfish. How big does Cuban Hogfish get?
