In the final planning stages of my first tank - a mixed reef - 90g plus 28g sump. Skimmer will be a Euroreef 135. Here is what I am thinking. Too many? What order would you suggest?

1. Ocellaris Clown pair (2)
2. Yellow Tang
3. Blue-Green Chromis (3-5)
4. Diamond Watchman Goby
5. Six Line Wrasse
6. Flame Angel
7. Powder Blue Tang
8. Scarlet skunk cleaner shrimp (2)
9. Peppermint Shrimp (2)
10. Tiger Brittle Sea Star

Thanks!

Your list looks fine, but i would try to find the tangs at one time and acclimate together to (hopefully) avoid territorial issues (what i am dealing with now). hope that helps, Wiz ;)

Thanks Wiz... good tip on the tangs. Being a total beginner and knowing the the powder blue tang can be a little tough to keep, I planned on adding him at the end. I thought the yellow tang would be good early on to help with any algae. Now not sure which is best - adding them separate with the yellow tang early or adding them at the same time at the end.

Also, when would you add the shrimp? Before the fish?

I would stick with only the yellow tang. A powder blue, in additon to being a very difficult fish acclimate and keep in good health, simply grows too large and is much too active for a 90. IMO, even a yellow is pushing it but that's an argument that's been beat to death. The rest of the list looks good. Bear in mind a 90 is a decent sized tank but it's not large. I used to think my 120 was big until I added a hundred lbs of rock and a few fish. Now it's pretty marginal.

I have a feeling that out of 5 chromis 3 will remain. The tank can support more, but the nature of the fish will reduce them to 3 in a 90 gallon.

What do you think of the citron goby or green clown goby? They seem to be pretty cool...perching on the coral. I have heard they are jumpers and I have a tech tank with open top. Suppose I could add egg crate though I hear that doesn't keep them in. Also, I know they can nip at SPS corals. Still, would love to have one of these guys or a perhaps a hawk. problem with the hawk is they might eat the shrimps... so many choices!

I have a 90g and that is about the same inhabitants that I have. Only a yellow tang though. Also have a black sailfin blenny to eat algae. Your shrimp might duke it out too. Might want to stick with one kind.

Here is the order I put mine in.

Clown
Damsels
Starfish
Shrimp
Blenny
Goby
Tang
Angel
Wrasse

Really had no issues and I have a ton of corals in my tank. Hope this helps.
