hi everyone!

i just recently lost my purple firefish for unknown reasons (water tested out fine, no visible diseases, was eating fine, etc), and i've started looking at what to add to my tank in the future. i currently have two small snowflake clownfish in a 29g coralife biocube with ~20lbs of live rock and 3 inches of sand. i have no real idea what i want to get next but i'll probably avoid more firefish. i have a potential list below (would only choose one or two out of them obviously) but i'd love to hear more recommendations/information about them/personal experience with behavior/etc.

potential new additions:
carpenters fairy wrasse
clown goby
hi fin red banded goby
yellowhead jawfish
segmented sailfin blenny
purple striped dottyback
royal gramma basslet

I am new but I wanted a jawfish for 5+ years so I feel comfortable saying that per my research they need a 5-6" sand bed. I don't think 3" would be enough but perhaps you will find someone who had managed with less.

As for the firefish and the clowns, can't those clowns get aggressive in that small space? Do you think they nipped the fire fish? Anyways, like you, I wouldn't get another now that the clowns are there.

Tanks to small for a wrasses. They are very active. A royal gramma would look nice but I'd only go with either a royal gramma or the dottyback as they probably would fight. As stated above jawfish like to dig a lot. So maybe avoid it. I don't see you having a problem with 2 more fish!

potential new additions:
Carpenters fairy wrasse definitely not, needs 4 ft tank
clown goby fine
hi fin red banded goby fine
yellowhead jawfish iffy
segmented sailfin blenny this or the red banded
purple striped dottyback fine
royal gramma basslet personally wouldn't put one in a tank this small. Mine uses every bit of my 75
