Stomatopod Book Club and Bibliography

I've decided to mix up some of my brief vacation from grad school with my JSTOR account to do some serious reading about mantis shrimp. Last night, I started with Geary, Dana. et al. "Stomatopod Predation on Fossil Gastropods from the Plio-Pleistocene of Florida," which gave an interesting analysis of probably rates of smasher-type mantis predation on snails.

Here's a rough list of the stuff yet to come:

Ahyong, Shane T. "Phylogenetic Analysis of the Stomatopoda (Malacostra)"

I figure this will be a reasonable overview of the system of nomenclature.

Schiff, H. and Manning, R.B. "Description of a Unique Crustacean Eye"

I hope this will give some insight into the structure of the eye generally. It seems, at first glance, to be a little too technical for me, but I'll try to mine the bibliography for more easily-comprehensible works.

Cronin, Thomas W. and Marshall, Justin. "Parallel Processing and Image Analysis in the Eyes of a Mantis Shrimp"

This seems a little closer to my particular area of expertise, and I'm hoping it might draw some connections for me.

Bauer, Raymond T. "Stomatopod Grooming Behavior: Functional Morphology and Amputation Experiments in Gonodactyllus oerstedii"

This article showed up in the bibliographies of several articles I checked, and the abstract sounds interesting.

Kunze, Janet. "The Functional Morphology of Stomatopod Crustacea"

Reading this should prove profitable.

That's the starting list my initial JSTOR search turned up. If anyone would like to get in on some reading and discussion or recommend some articles (Dr. Roy, nudge nudge), I'd be really interested and participating. I'm not a biologist, and I'd really like to hear from those of you who are.

You should be able to get hold of these articles electronically, via your local or university library and http://www.jstor.org/.
