i store my ro/di in a garbage can, and also have another garbage can that i use to mix saltwater in, check to make sure it is food grade plastic though, so it will hopefully not leach phosphates into the water.
Yes. Just don't use them if they are there for a long time or exposed to light that may allow them to grow bacteria. A better option is leaving the extra water in a giant vat of some kind with a pump to circulate and very little light exposure.
Just make sure you ahve a powerhead or some other pump to keep the water circulating if you are palnning on storing a large volume. I keep 3-4 6g jugs of ro/di at all times in my garage in sealed containers. Never a problem
