Storms

Nice! Impressive! Don't you have a point and shoot?
If you have a point and shoot and took those, that's even more impressive!

I've heard from a couple of my neighbors that two 18-wheelers BLEW OVER on the Hwy 370 bridge. Now that is scary.

New Town is just a few miles west of there, and we had insane winds - you couldn't go outside without being blinded by dust from all the construction sites. At one point I really thought maybe a tornado was coming.

Also, and not sure if this is related - but our whole development is completely without water!! This started when I got home from work, so it was before the storm. It came back for a little while and then dried up again. It's gross enough going to bed without brushing my teeth, but I'm just crossing my fingers that it's back in the morning so that I can shower for work. If not, I guess I'll be heading to the gym to use the showers there.

They blew over just after the bridge. They each had a mobile home on the trailers and that's what caused them to be blown over I thinik.

No power at my house...hot as hell...I am at my friend's house tonight with Bogie sucking up the AC!

Nook when I looked across the river I didn't see a single light your way up and down the river valley. Our whole town is without power. Man just something you don't experience everyday no power except car and truck lights. Stirred the tank before I left hope the fishies make it. I couldn't take it either sucking up the AC over at the parents place with the wife and kids.

Spoke to Lonnie he is SOL currently. Looking for a generator was told restoral time of 4 to 5 days. Going to make some calls in the morning anyone willing to help post here and I will try and get in touch with him. Haven't heard from Kurt but I know he has a generator. Hope everyone is doing OK.

Sorry to hear your power is out too...soon as I can and before I get my new tanks going, I am getting a whole house generator...every time the wind blows in St Louis our power goes out....tonight was an exception.

There was a huge tree that was leaning over our swimming pool that fell tonight and LUCKILY, fell sideways into the woods. It would have crushed our vinyl fence and ruined the pool beyond repair.

The wierd thing about this storm is that NO ONE from the news channels predicted it, like it came out of nowhere. Good luck to the folks with no power.

I have been out of power for about 6 hours now. I am over my brothers house. I was coming down 367 and I swear I was looking into the gut of this storm. It looked like the closest thing you could get to a tornado without it being one. My wife and I quickly turned around and went to my Mother In-Laws house. We were not driving through that.

Thank God my tank is in the basement in an area without windows. Without the pumps and lights running even in the heat my basement stays around 77 with out the AC. Temp wise I should be fine. I don't have a generator, but I have a battery backup I can get from work to run my tunze for a while, and I can perform a small water change with about 20 gallons of water I had already mixed. As long as the temp doesn't rise to much I think I can make it if the power is off for more than a day. I am crossing my fingers.

Oh...by the way...those are incredible pictures Chelsey! I'm sure you've said this before and I've missed it, but what kind of camera are you using? It's a point and shoot?

last power outage I bought one of those power inverters to convert 12DC to 120AC it ran everything but my lights you just have to have your car running outside to keep the battery charged. The one I bought was the 300 watt version, just be aware that somethings will not operate properly on it as its not a true AC sign wave.

I lost my Morrish Idol. I have accounted for all but three fish. My Gobies and firefish, but they sleep in a hole and only come out when the lights are on. My boss allowed me to pick up the APC 1500 UPS I have under my desk. My Tunze 6060, emp 1100 powerhead, and moonlights(just so I can see). Everyone was gasping for oxygen this morning. They were swimming around after I hooked up the above. If akrimmel's has been running for 14 hours I might make it out with little loss. The Idol really hurt, took me a month to get him eating, he was my personal joy. Just hope Ameren gets the job done soon. Luckily Temp in basement is 74 and tank around 77 right now. that is average without lights and computers running in the basement, hopefully the temp holds.

all is good as far as i know, grandma is at home with daughter--fish police so i would know if something went wrong.

I'm in the Oakville area, about 7-10 minutes south of Gateway Aquatics. We're finally up after 14 hours! I was beginning to worry! Our subdivision looks like a tornado hit! Trees, I'm talking large trees snapped off like tooth picks! I'm lucky to only have a few broken branches on my trees!

I looked out and found 3 dead birds floating in my pool! Geezz...every time I clean it and charge it up we get rain!

Anyway; least we have power and everything looks to be ok. My open brain is stressed some but I think he'll make it. If anyone needs to store some corals, my tank is ok. Just keep in mind we we were down for 14 hours.

me as well and i live in edwardsville, keep in mind a block up from me same street never lost power at all, must not be any reefers up that way?

My house has no power still. Hampton and 44.
It was 102F in our house last night. I filled up the bath tub with cold water and fell asleep in there for a couple hours.

I could tell my dog was suffering so I threw him in the water after me and he was so comfortable he even layed in the tub with his head completely submerged. ( No he is not dead ).
