Storms

Still no power at the Nookies house:( I think our little area of Oakvilled always gets served last by Ameren! I am going to start an electric company of my own! Also, looking into solar panels and a home generator dt this hassle with Ameren.

No power for Hobbes either! I just talked to him and he could use a generator if anyone is in North County. Power came on for 4 hours today and then went back off.

I hope that doesn't happen to me! This stress relieving hobby is going to send me to see Nanook at work!

Here's the latest outage map :( :

Which is not very accurate........a lot of 63138 has power and I know all of 63043 has power.

I've decided to against looking at that map.

63139 is ooooout.

A lot of 63110 has power, All of the hill is back up now.

Does anyone know how they "fix" the power ?

Do they just go around and flip breakers or something ?

I know blown up transformers have to be replaced and downed lines have to be re-erected.

The task involves locating outages in a widespread area. Workers use a careful method of either repairing equipment or re-attaching switches. In some cases, it is the only thing that stands between customers staying in dark or getting power again.

That's from an article on KSDK.com...I guess they just need to flip breakers, though you'd think they'd be able to do that via computer or something by now.

Well, what happens when the computers lose power? :p

Last I heard, not confirmed, there were about 5 tornadoe's that hit around the madison, clinton county area (Il side). I know I had to go to Trenton to check on my son, staying at a friends house, and Great Grandpa, If that wasn't a tornado that went thru, it is as close as you can come to it. There is not a single block in that town without a bunch of trees down, windows blown, power lines are a tangled mess.
As of 7pm, Trenton, Lebanon, New Baden, Ofallon, Troy, Maryville, Edwardsvill, Glen Carbon, Perrion, St. Rose, Breese and German town all have no power. Best wishes to all who have thier hands full. And know you have alot of people here who are more than willing to help. Just let us know.
God Bless.

I'm at my dad's in 63139 and he has power on this side of the street and the other side is without power...wierd.

That's how ours was. Across the street had power but I was in a group of about 10 houses that were out. Then when fixing today they were in the tree lines behind the neighbor putting up a new line so it must have triggered a switch/breaker on a very small scale. Probably why it took a couple days due to priority and size of outage.
