Strange acting hippo tang?

Does anyone have a hippo tang that just burries themselves behind the rockwork only to appear once in a while?

Mine appears to be losing it's mind. Went to get him out from what appeared to be him stuck in the rock work and he went mental around the tank?

Any help would be appreciated.

Is it a little baby hippo? Does he have tank mates? They do like to hide a lot. I have a 6" hippo and at first he spent most of his time hiding then I added a kole tang who is always out and about and now the two of them swim laps together. I also have a little 1" baby hippo and he will dart into hiding at the first site of anything scary going on outside the tank. Another thing I have noticed is when the lights go out they will always remain hidden. I think they are a naturally shy fish but in time and with the help of dither fish they will become confident and spend most of there time out in the open. Unless you are positive he is really really stuck I would not try to move him, this could cause real stress and stress for tangs is like a death sentence.
As long as he is still eating I would not worry too much.

yes i had one do that every once an awhile, i read that it is there nature to wedge themselves into coral and rockwork.

Yeah, they wedge themselves into the rocks and aren't 'stuck'. You should leave it be and not try to 'rescue it' when it does this.
