Strange behavior from green star polyp

Insane in the Brain
I've had a green star poly for about two months in my tank. From what I can tell it has been doing quite well. Color is good and it opens and closes its polyps with the light cycle of the tank. It is currently in the bottom of my tank attached to a piece of base rock.

Tonight it did something that I have not seen before. Normally the polyps are extended while the acintics are on and retract when they go off. Tonight the polyps contracted about 20 minutes before the full spectrum lights shut down. There were a few that were still out, but they were not fully extended.

Is this normal behavior for this type of coral?

Thank you in advance

The polyps will retract for various reasons: light cycle, irritation, water flow, and/or water quality. If could just be a fish brushed by or a shrimp walked through it. If could be something in the water irritating it. Regardless what it is, you shouldn't be concerned unless you see them stay retracted for an extented period during your photo period.

It opened up the next day and hasn't retracted its polyps like it did before. It must have gotten spooked by one of the shrimp in my tank.

thank you for the comments.
