strange clam behaviour

Hi,

My gold teardrop clam is exhibiting some strange behavior. Occasionally he closes of his siphon tube and sucks that part of his mantle deep into his shell. He will stay like that for a couple of minutes but then go back to normal full extention, which he stays like 99% of the time. It doesnt appear that he is gaping and his health in general is good. The area of the mantle that he sucks in appears to be stretched thin or else a little bleached. I have a few pics but it is hard to see and they are kind of blurry.

i see my squammy do that sometimes. mine is completely healthy and always growing. im guessing its pretty common. i wouldnt worry about it at all.

Mine does it often to, I take it as normal behavior to. Great growth/ color, but not as nice as yours. Are the white patchs from glass glare.

Great lookin clam.

Thanks for the compliment. I am super happy with the clam. Got him on the cheap at my LFS. One of those lucky finds. The white is actually the mantle though. It is a little faded in the center. Not sure why but will watch for other signs of stress.
