Yes you are nit-picking, you have totally hijacked this thread from its topic. This clam was legally collected and it is not live rock. Your point is null and void in that fact alone. Just becuase you think that all legal forms of collecting are unethical does not mean you have the right to push that belief on others. Where do you think your hermit crabs and snails come from? They are collected from the keys, along with tons of other soft corals and algae. You are being a bully and have taken over a thread about a turkey wing clam which has nothing to do with collecting live rock, which isnt the same as dead or dying material from the dry land. Even worse many of you dont even live down here and dont understand how the rules work or what the real impact is. As for shutting this thread down, i'm sure as soon as a moderator sees how heated this is getting thanks to you it will be shut down, so every response you continue to leave will help that happen.

a4twenty You are absolutly taking my comments out of context in order to try to make me look guilty of a crime? I have said before i invite any police/FWC to look at everything i have. I am not guilty of any crime, collecting mollusks is legal in this situation, even out on the reef of that area. To insist that i intended to commit a crime is slander, plain and simple. I advise you to remember what you type online can be used against you, and you are provoking something you would never say to my face.

And one last thing, your last comment is implying that I dont like reefs now? Are you kidding?! now this is about who loves the reef more?! Get a life and bug someone else .

I was out at the beach here in ft. luaderdale yesterday and i found what i thought was a rock encrusted with some orange encrusting sponge or coralline algae. I put it in my tank becuase of the color, well later in the evening after the lights went out my partner called me at work to tell me it was a bivalve or clam of some sort. = Illegal

Again, I am not nitpicking, or bullying. I am just trying to Protect others from BREAKING THE LAW. Ethics or not.

I may not believe in some laws, but I do not encourge or mislead others into breaking them.

I think its cool that you got a neat clam, and hopefully are keeping it alive.

I just want others to know what is legal and what is not. It sure would suck to go to the beach, collect a bunch of stuff, because some one said it was okay, only to get busted and face heavy fines, that would likely total much more than if you were to have purchesed the livestock legally.

jeremy i knew the animal was a bivalve before i took it home, i wasnt sure if it was alive or not= legal
And protecting others isnt your job.
