OH I dont doubt some people are selling frags of SSC that has been in a captive reef tank for some time (aquacultured). But they are still more being brought in from Australia.....I'd much rather buy a sm colony for $180 than a frag for $50. Also they should mariculture it over there.

Think about all the aquacultured peices we get from the stores now....most of them will rarely or never become available through wild or maricultured shipments...that is why people pay big bucks for the frags. Also the fact that aquaculture is generally more hardy. But when wilds are still coming in what is stopping the stores from getting a big wild colony in ...waiting a month and chopping it into frags at $50 a pop. That is what makes SSC much different than a purple monster or pink lemonade. Its a coral that is still available in wild shipments.

Hey Darryl. Do you still see any of those SCC in the LFS ? I'm from New-Brunswick and pretty much have to buy all my corals online. I used to see some of those nice SCC sold by a few Toronto region fish stores but they seem not to be getting them anymore. Am i right?

Hey Chipie.....

You are right...they dont seem to getting the Aussie shipments right now. I was wondering when again myself. I did purchase a nice SSC at one time from RR but returned it and will no longer shop there. I heard ORG did get some Aussie shipments recently but they did not survive shipping or the shipment was not as promised.

Wondering if I will have to settle for a frag myself......the aussie SSC and echinata are the only two corals Im after really.

Well ORG RR and SUM all got some nice aussie shipments but it's been a while since i've seen either of the 2 you are looking for. It seems that they are getting more LPS now. I'm from New-Brunswick so it's not easy for me to get corals and i buy online from around Toronto most of the time. :( If i see any of these 2 at any sellers around Toronto, i'll let you know. :)

Here's mine... Not the fast grower that some have experienced, but also not as sensitive either.. I picked mine up from UC last march and it took a while to color up. Then, it began to lay down it's base. Just recently since I first got it, it's starting to sprout branches over the last month.. Love this coral..

For those that seem to be able to keep the nice pink color to there SSC, whee are you placing the coral? I have mine right now in my frag tank and it has lost the nice pink color.

I got one the other day and still havnt gotten it to color up yet. Kinda worried about it but all my other sps's are doing great. Any ideas?

I'll play mine :)

Looks like it's growin good for yea. How long have you had yours?

bought from Vivid and have had it for probly 5 mnths. It was literally fresh cut and MAYBE 1". I paid to much but its like the other coral i want when i get the chance i buy it. But this other coral i will have to wait till the price comes down a bit (red dragon acro). Seems to me once its placed and happy it grows relatively quick. I have mine on the right side of the tank in front of the wavebox slightly and half way up with almost 1300Ws of light.

UC screwed up and didn't ship mine this week like they were supose to. So now I will get mine wensday. And it's supose to be extra nice for the delay, we'll see. I'll post as soon as it's here.

i am not so sure that this is in fact an SSC....

i also have one like this and i believe it is shades of fall? it also has a blue/purple rim in parts, different coralites and growth than the SSC

100% sure it is not shades of fall. Though it looks very similar in coloration.

This is shades of fall

Well it's on the truck out for delivery. It's 3:30 I hope it's here soon! And hopefuly they packed it well as it's cold here today. I recently shipped a frag pack to alaska and it arived with the water still 76 degrees. So as long as they didn't do a shoty job on packing it should be fine. I'll post pics here in a couple hours if all is well.

Just got the package and I must say I am not impressed with the packaging. It wasn't even a styro it was this inflatable box thing inside a regular box. Not adaquit for shipping corals! Anyway the water was cold and the acros are brown and very unhappy. Hopefully they will recover.
