Just found out Im getting Stray Voltage in the water from my sump pump.........

Anyone have a pump for sale rated at 700 or 950 GPH Water Pump.???
ASAP

what about a grounding probe? that might be a cheaper way to go, and it will cover you if somthing else starts discharging stray voltage.

just a thought

where can I pick up a ground probe.?

Don't just ground it without eliminating the source of the voltage, if you do that and use a GFI it will trip the minute you put on the ground, if you dont use a GFI then you may end up with a short circuit when you install the ground. YOU need to fix the voltage leak first.

Ok I got a ground probe....question about GFI receptacle....I can't get behind my tank to install GFI......can I put the receptacle on the same line as the plugs behind my tank.....I have two receptacles on the same circuit breaker can I install the GFI on the receptacle and still work.????

Looked like there is a little voltage leak from my Sump pump......its ok now with the ground probe and GFI.......Im going to order a new pump this week

i run the same setup also. gfi with ground probe.
i believe stray voltage can cause latteral line disease in fish.

This is something new that happened...I removed my Pro-Heat II Titanium IC Heater (till winter time) and today I put my hand in the tank and felt a littler shock...so I broke out the volt meter and Bamm....40 volt reading..I narrowed it down to the sump pump Mag 7....anyhow the heater must be some sore of ground probe because I just removed the heater and started having problems...maybe its the Titanium ....shock free now

same thing happened to me...my flame hawk all of a sudden lost the black on top and started acting wired....turns out it was my rio pump that supports my UV and refugium! got a new pump and ground probe now! all fish seem much happer!!

whats funny is ai saw pics one time of a place thats using electrical scurrent in the ocean to stimulate coral growth, I can't find it anywhere now but I remember reading it.
