Stream 3 quantity & placement

I placed mine on the front and back panes about 7" from the bottom so the back of the pump is about 1" from the end wall.

Hi Roger, I'm considering this pump. I have a 150 gallon (4 ft wide x 2 ft deep x 30 inch tall) tank. The tank is in-wall and the 2 sides have minimal space to attach the magnets - meaning I can't really reach the bottom front of the tank. So my options are to put it toward the top of the 2 sides or the back wall which is completely open. It is a bare bottom with mostly fishes and a few soft corals and anemone. Would this pump be good and would one be enough? I also have 2 6045.

I am never a fan of single pump set ups, the main reasons being 2 pumps always means you have back up if one fails, and whenever the flow just comes from one direction you will have unbalanced growth, a windswept look, and you will also tend to have a corner or some spot detritus accumulates unless you can alternate the flow direction. One pump would be enough flow, but I wouldn't feel it is a good way to do things. The Stream 3 would work, I really like them for tanks 6ft and up. You do have a place behind rock to conceal them I have some reservation about the bubble tip, you would want to use the foam protection on the pumps for sure and they need cleaning. I think all things considered, unless you plan to get into SPS heavily, I would do 2 6095's, they are much smaller and easier to conceal and would not be too much flow, though you can of course run the 6150's very slow, they are a bigger pump and you don't really need so much pump.
