Stream buyers, listen to Rogers Suggestions

After playing with my Stream 6060 in a 72g tank, it's alot of flow. Alot. No joke it's crazy in there. I'm going to have to put at least another 30 or 40 lbs of rock in my tank to cover up my DSB or at least find a way to block the flow down low. This thing is absolutely crazy, I can't run it any more than 6 hours a day for fear causing a sandstorm. I've got well over 100lbs of rock in my tank as it is. My poor LPS and Green Star polyps are going to have to find a new home, we won't even talk about my poor Capnella that hasn't opened for two days. Craaaaaazy! My fish look like they are in a blender (ok, maybe not so crazy, but the little guys have to hide in the rocks with the stream on).

I love it, but, it's a love hate relationship. This thing is a monster. People thinking about putting one of these in a small tank beware. Moral of the story, listen to Roger. This is *NOT* a powerhead. I'm going to have to rearrange my entire tank (and probably get rid of my DSB), to get this to work right.

With that, I love it, it's the coolest toy ever. Oh yeah, it's bigger than I thought too, roughly the size of a Mag 5 or so.

Just to let you know I have one in my 90 gallon. I only have mine turned up about 60%. Any higher and my xenia on the opposite end of the tank gets blown around like crazy, however the way it is set up now it is perfect!

I thought about getting rid of my xenia but then I realized that the xenia is what pays for all of my other corals. I can't get rid of my cash crop. :)

I do love my 6000 though, one of my favorite toys to date. My osmolator is awesome too, it's nice being able to go out of town for a few days and not worry about salinity or pumps burning up.

Trust me, if the ocean was wimpy divers wouldn't need those sleds and fish seem to do just fine in the ocean. As for LPS placement is the key, place them on the other side of a rock to buffer the flow. The polyps could work out if you placed them below the pump on the side the pump is on.

I have 5 6100 in a 6 foot tank, and the flow is crazy the sand has found its place and the front part of the tank is down to the glass and all the sand behind the rocks,

As to corals and fish. no issues with the corals sps and lps, and the fish also seem fine, even 4 inches from the output of the stream my tang has no problems holding possistion or swimming about the rocks, evry now and then he will get pushed by the current for a split second but recovers. looks great, als fish are very good at finding the slow flow spots and when a pump turns on or off all the fish change direction, cool

Added a little more rock to act as a break for the flow, looks good. I'm adding more rock a little later this week as well, I also have to find a way to shield the clams. Many of the corals have gotten used to the stream already. I might pull out some of my powerheads when I get a chance, either that or move them deep into the rockwork.
