I would not do this, but I was just wondering if Puffers are a potential "solution" to a mantis shrimp "problem" or if these lil guys pack too much of a punch for them.
Dr Roy (above) knows best, but with any of the mentioned animals (puffers,eels,octopus and triggers, for that matter), there is the chance that they will be the ones injured/killed. This comes from the stories that I have heard both here, grimreefers and on various websites.
Just a thought to consider...
Obviously potential risk is determined by size. When I said large puffers feed on stomatopods, I should have quantified that statement. I've watched puffers take gonodactylids approximately 1/3 their lenght. Certainly if they are more closely size-matched, the risk to the predator increases.
