strongest glue for attaching corals

I'm having the hardest time attaching GSP to my overflow... I'm ashamed at how much fail this has been...:facepalm:

idea is simple, glue enough pieces of GSP on my C2C overflow so I can have a nice grass field instead of an ugly glass box.

however, no matter how much superglue I use, it keeps coming off. I have Loctite Super Glue Gel AND BSI Cyanoacrylates... I have used 3 tubes over the past few days. some frags have more glue than GSP... but every morning, I find a few of them randomly in my tank. (gsp outbreak in a year.. guaranteed to happen). My snails aren't helping either. the big Nerites are probably bulldozing them off at night.

any plans? ideas?

thanks

GSP doesn't like to be glued: it exudes a bio-film that undoes it. If, on the other hand, you rubberband it to a piece of flat rock and let it grow that way for a few days, then remove the rubber band (run carbon, because it will protest this treatment) you can then glue THE ROCK where you want it. I recommend, however, letting this specimen sit in peace and recover from the upset, and let it attach firmly to the rock.

ahh no wonders.. would rubble work? I have a 6ft glass coast to coast overflow at the very top of the tank, and all my rocks are good chunks of rock. flattest one is about 1" thick. is there a very thin type of rock I can use?

thank you

perhaps ceramic tile would work. You could even pre pcut it to the sizes you need. Just put it on the bottom someplace, let some gsp colonize it, then glue the tiles in place.

Interesting. I will give it a try. Do i need to "cycle" the tiles? Or can i add small pieces in?

I'm not sure, but people have used it in place of regular frag plugs without any problems so I think it should be fine as is.

I have successfully glued GSP to live rock. It was my first and only time doing it, and I haven't had a problem, though it did take a few days for them to open back up. Use the super glue gel.

that's what i did at first, it worked out well for my gsp rock. I thought this would work out easily. now I see pieces of gsp in unreachable places growing.

Hmm.. I have two kinds of GSP in my tank, all super glued to rock, one i did, the other was fragged that way. all are growing in their respected spots. I wonder if maybe a piece blew away from your rock and landed elsewhere.

If you want to glue the GSP to the overflow, you might have to scuff the glass up a bit beforehand.
