I wasn't going to even bother gracing Thales' whining with a reply, but since this has turned into an indictment of sorts in the court of online opinion, I thought I'd better. I've got 6 years of 100% positive feedback on a few different sales/auction sites. I know how to conduct business online.

How many times were you informed by how many different people that you needed to post prices before you finally posted prices?

What Thales fails to mention in his tale of victimization is that twice, not once, his PM box was full and I couldn't communicate with him.

Tale of victimization? Methinks thou protest to much.

The first time it was full was days before it was full again. The second time it was full, it was full for a total of 4 hours, and you were pm'd that that there was space. Further, I watched the message tracking feature of RC and your read the pm that there was space the day I posted it to you.

Either Thales is a novice at online transactions, or he knows that communications and negotiations online can be going in many directions at once, and it's critical that we do everything we can to keep communications open and prompt.

I responded via pm that my pm box now had space, and you read it that day (pm tracking is a fun thing, even a 'novice at online transactions' like me can figure out how to use it) but you did not reply. I posted to this thread the next day asking if you got my pm. I also left you a phone message that day and talked with Elite about it. The day after that you posted prices, but still didn't respond to my post or my pm.
You had read my pm and my post and I assume heard my phone message, but decided not to respond - hows that for open and prompt?

So he wasn't the only party I was communicating with, and the other party called me (I left both a phone number on my initial email) promptly and, get this, bought the chiller for the same asking price as was offered to Thales.

So here is the annoying part that made me post here.
I called you on the phone Saturday after you had failed to respond to my other communications even though you had read them. You told me you would get back to me on Monday to work it out. Either you had already sold the chiller or you hadn't. If you had, you really should have told me instead of stringing me along by telling me that my number was now in your phone and you would call me back. If you hadn't sold the chiller I am at a loss to understand why you decided to ignore that I wanted the chiller (which you offered to me at 400, less than the price you finally posted in this thread) and sell it to someone else.
No problem with you communicating with other parties. Thats how it works. Being honest with me would have been fine. However, stringing me along when you already sold it or had no intention of selling it to me is icky.

So a person can whine all they want, but the reality is, had he emptied out his PM box after the first time my pm bounced, or had he bothered to call me immediately, he probably would have had his chiller. We've all had online transactions go bad in an instant. If a person can't make room in his inbox or place a call promptly, how does that bode for payment and pickup? I stated in my posting that I wanted things to be easy and fast. That I sold the chiller to someone who was more responsive and thus apperently more responsible hardly makes me the bad guy.

You are spinning the story. You read my pm about my box now having space the day I posted it - the same day you had a pm bounce. You read my post to this thread about the pm the very next day. I have to assume you heard my phone message from that day as well. We spoke on the phone the day after that and you said nothing about the chiller not being available. Why say you would call me Monday if you had no intention of calling me monday and the chiller was already sold?

Did you sell it before of after you spoke with me on the phone Saturday?

I don't really care if you sold it to someone else, that happens. I do care that you ignored my multi pronged communication attempts and that you strung me along instead of telling me the truth.

If you two see a need to discuss this further, do it off of Reef Central.
