Is a 50/50 mix of live sand (arag-alive) and crushed coral a suitable substrate for my upcoming reef tank? Want the benefits of LS but also would like to save a few bucks here and there to upgrade other initial purchases.:rollface:

All the sand will end upon the bottom and all the CC will end up on top so unless that's what you want, don't mix.

You can use dead sand. In a few weeks it will be live sand.

You can use some uncured live rock and dead base rock to get your tank going.

That will also save $$$.
