1 niger trigger
1 V lion
1 golden puffer
1 snow flake eel
1 garabaldi

he has them all except the garabalidi, which eh wants to purchase
and they are in a 100g atm.

which I assume they will outgrow as they are all very small.
what size tank should he purchase?

the garabaldi is found off the hot waters of mexico

its still a colder water fish and protected in Calif....

For me, your credibility would drop a few points having this fish in your tank.

good, he can scratch off th garabaldi from his list.

will this change the size tank he needs to get?

Nope a 300g. Believe me he'll want to buy another then another and another fish!!! 300g should be good. These huge predators get massive when they reach adulthood.

I'd have to agree with the others. If your friend wants fish that get big then he's going to need a big tank. When we buy fish we have to think of Adult size and hope they reach it, same as we would Kids Dogs, Cats, Snakes and other house hold critters..

The exception would be the eel. Eel's don't do much in the wild, and they will be fine in a 100g.

I suspect a 300g would still be too small, unless some of these predators starting killing each other. If he is seriously going to be content with this fish list (minus the temperate garabaldi), I'd say 300g would be the bare minimum.

ouch!! I wish my friends would listen to their local expert:mad:

his 100g has been established for 4 or so years with a few fish in it. I wish he would consult with me before purchasing fish.

for god sakes, he still has his seaclone 150 on the back.....poor fish.

I am trying to convince him to purchase an overflow and put a 50g sump underneath and then buy a very large skimmer so he does not have to purchase a hob skimmer for this tank and save some $$$. :( but he seems hell bent on learning the hard way.

all i can do is make suggestions

they have all of those fish but the garabaldi at the reef room and there all in at least 300 gallon tanks and a couple look cramed
300 is skimping!
