Suggestion on a calcium reactor?

Hi Albert -

Looking for a calcium reactor this time around for my 125 (160g system total) - don't want to drain the wallet on it, but also don't want a piece of $%*#. ;) Oh - and the pump's gotta be silent.

Suggestions? Really just need the reactor and regulator. (can get CO2 super cheap @ work and I have a controller)

Thanks!

Hi Mike,
My first choice would be either Geo 618 or AETech 300. Both units are very well made and come with Eheim pumps (1248 on Geo and 1250 on AETech). Secondary chamber on AETech is a nice feature. It can be used either with phosphate removal media or as a secondary calcium chamber.
Budget choice would be Octopus 140. Good acrylic works, decent pump, great value for the price. Similar in size to Geo 618.
All three reactors come with pH probe ports.

Thanks Albert. The AETech sounds good - but I don't see a secondary chamber on the pic on your site. Is that an add-on option?

Albert - I still haven't pulled the trigger on a calcium reactor yet. There's a good chance I'll be leaving the tank in my wife's hands for a year (yes...I'm very scared) so now I've gotta make a decision. Is there one unit that's lower-maintenance than others? (or traditionally needs less tinkering than others?)

Right now I'm dosing 2-part, but we're trying to find ways to "automate" the tank as much as possible for the time while I'm gone - or at least eliminate as many of the day-to-day things as possible.

What's your suggestion on controllers and regulators? And finally...how tall are the different tank sizes? I'm going to build a cabinet to house this stuff in and I'll have about 29" of height in it.
