I want to set up my 29g hex for seahorses and I was doing a little shopping. I found some at one site, the h.kuda's for $49.00 each [sex known] or $139.00 for a apair sex known and unrelated.
I also found the H.zosterae for $17.00 ea known sex or $39.00 a pair inrelated. I was wondering which are better for someone who has'nt raised them before , I kind of like the dwarf's more than the kuda's . Is it important to make sure if you get 2 that they're unrelated and could I keep 2 pairs in a 29g tank
Any advice and I,d be grateful ,Thanx Dave E

if you were going to get dwarves you would need a MUCH smaller tank than a 29g. I have a mated pair and 10 fry in a 1g... so if you wanted to use that tank i would go with bigger horses. Dwarves are the only seahorses i have ever had, and they seem pretty easy to manage so far, but you need to hatch bbs daily because it is diffucult to get them to eat frozen because they are so small. Mine are eating frozen cyclops, but they are the only ones i have heard of doing that, so be prepaired to hatch and feed bbs if you get the dwarves. I would recomend seahorsesource.com if you want to order online. the prices are reasonable and they have a great reputation for having really healthy horses. PLus the owner is really nice and very helpful.

dne63, I think you found the seahorsesource website. I was there earlier today. Thats danu here on RC and he has a very good reputation.

I would say that H. kuda is a much better choice for your first horses.

Kati. Are you feeding only cyclopeeze or do you do both live and cyclopeeze? How long have you been feeding frozen?

Fred
