Suggestions for fast growing and vertical SPS

I have recently reworked the rock in my 210. I went with less rock and it's configured more minimalistic. With that in mind, I am looking for SPS that like to grow more vertical to fill the space. What would be your suggestions?

ghetto no name green birdsnest. this stuff grows like crazy in all directions. No the prettiest but it takes up space and will give your tank some life! I collect digis and have an ORA purple that branches like crazy. Its another fast grower that goes up!

Glue caps and acros all up and down those overflows and let them grow out, anything that grows up that high will likely have dieoff on the shaded areas.

Digitatas seem to grow straight upright for me. But yeah, stags for sure will reach for the surface no matter where they are.

Acropora Formosa, Acropora yongei (Green Slimer), ORA Stuber Staghorn (not great looking but grows crazy), Bob Moore Blue Stag (in my tank now), ORA Miami Orchid (in my tank now). Any of the staghorns will give you the best growth rates in the vertical sense. You didn't list your lighting. I hope it's powerful enough to get stags colored up and growing that deep down in the tank. You're going to need a lot of patience before it gets a filled in look.

I am running 2 250w Radiums on the ends with a 400w Radium in the center. They are in lumenmax elite reflectors bout 9 inches from the surface. Also running a super actinic VHO tube along with a 454 VHO tube.

Thanks for the input guys..

Being honest, I like the minimalist look people are moving toward but that is not what you have. You seem to have spent a good amount of money on the tank and the radions. Get some cool rocks that you can set as pillars....still minimalistic but adding more vertical coverge

My Stylo (from reef gen iirc, reddish base bright violet polyps) grows ridiculously fast, and mostly vertically. It only took a week or so to settle in before exploding.

this is a old thread I remembered as a interesting aquarium. A. Formosa is really a very hearty coral and grows about 1" a month if not 2, in my tank. There are a lot of different looks you can achieve. Depends on your taste. You could fill your tank from frags in 2 yrs.

I am not a super big fan of caps any more, they grow so quick and get all over everything, especially green and purple caps. They are one of the easiest sps to grow, they will grow quicker in high nutrient tanks.

One that was not mentioned that I think grows very well vertically are torts especially the Bennett yellow and ORA Blue. They look awesome also.

I had 2 pillars previously, didn't like it so much with the 24 inch width on the tank. I am not trying to grow corals all the way to the top, but rather fill in that mid level while leaving open water for the Anthias and Tangs to navigate. That's one of the reasons I went with a 30 inch depth. So I am looking for some vertical SPS to place towards the rear on the rocks, and have LPS more to the front of the tank..

I have the following order arriving 2morrow.

Scripp's Green Tip Staghorn - Aquacultured ORA®

Montipora Capricornis Coral, Purple - Aquacultured ORA®

Indo Purple Tip Staghorn - Aquacultured ORA®

Birdsnest Coral, Green - Aquacultured ORA

German Blue Polyp Digi - Aquacultured ORA®

Pink Thick Branch Birdsnest Coral - Aquacultured

It's a start, I plan on placing the Purple cap on the back wall or overflow.

Do yourself a favor and put that cap down low or it will shade a large area in no time. Good growing:-)

Scipps and similar long, rugged stags are always a good choice. I have a green millie that is a ridiculous grower, too. It looks like the fuzziest stag ever.

Not technically SPS, but you could go with some blue ridge. :-)
