Suggestions on moving a 90 Gal tank

i have moved a 75 with the small circular furniture sliders after draining 1/3 of the water if that helps? wont work if you have to move it up any steps or anything tho

I think if you disturb the SB you may be asking for trouble. If it were me, I'd set up a secondary system. Keep it simple, for the fish and inverts and as many corals as I could safely store. Then put the LR in a different container. I'd use as much of the water as I could in both temp tanks. Then top off as needed with new cured mixed SW. Save a cup of the old sand w/ the LR and pitch the rest. Sift and save as many critters as you can find.
Then when the time comes, put it all back into the 90 and top it off w/ new sand. Seed the new sand w/ the cup of old.
Be prepared to do some water changes after the move is complete. Disturbing the LR may kick up some nasty crud that could cause a minicycle on you. Water changes will help keep that to a minimum.

Not sure how long you will have to move it for, but my wife and I moved the contents our 75 from our living room to our kitchen while laying our new floor down . We took the tank apart at about 10am (I think) and worked until 11pm literally non-stop, no break to eat, drink or anything. The 11pm stop time was when the tank was back in place and filled. I had made water for a few day's prior in some of my Rubbermaids and buckets. And in the rest of the Rubbermaids and buckets went the corals, fish and LR and the tank water with powerheads and heaters going. I emptied the tank down to about the top of the sand and kept the sand. I'm not sure how long it would last the way I did it though. I think much longer than that and it would have been bad. It took a little bit for the tank to recover, but it wasn't too bad. But you might be able to do what I did and just reassemble it in another room for a bit? If you need to borrow any Rubbermaids feel free to PM me. I have a few 38g (I think that how big they are) 1 or 2 18g and a 10g all only used for my fish.

Hey Fish... I have a 90 Gal just sitting in the corner of my living room with nothing in it. I'm actually thinking of selling it since it's been sitting for 1 1/2 yrs. It does need to be cleaned though.
If you're interested in borrowing (or buying) it let me know. I don't have a stand for it though.

I have re-used sand before ... It just takes a bit of water changes and patience to make sure it is relatively clean , and the tank hasn't started recycle again....

Ok, I moved the tank on Sat from the Dining Room to the Living Room. I removed all but 1 1/2" of water. Even then it was impossible to lift the whole thing. We lifted one side and put sliders under it. Repeat for other side. Moved to Living Room. Left sliders under it and refilled with water. Everything looks good. Not sure if it will stay there or if we will move it back.
